Non-traditional Bridal Shower Activities?

Hi Ladies!

My girlfriends and I are starting to plan a bridal shower for our dear friend, and while we know of a ton of the traditional, semi-corny (but always fun!) wedding shower games, we're looking to branch out and try something new!

I like the idea of activities that have something the bride can take from (e.g. everyone writes a memory or piece of advice for the bride to open at a later date), so ideas like that are encouraged. Really, just looking for ideas that aren't of the "what's in your purse?" nature.

    Honestly, I can't stand bridal shower games and I'm sure a lot of people agree. I'd be pleasantly surprised to attend a shower that skipped the traditional games and stuck to the basics which are good food, drinks, mingling, and watching the bride open her gifts.

    At my shower, they passed around recipe cards and had everyone write down their favorite recipes for me to try out (some turned out to be a hit in our house). They also passed out cut out butterflies and had everyone write down marriage advice/well wishes on them which was sweet.

    Another shower I attended, the BM's took an apron and hung a lot of household items off of it and had the bride model it and walk around and had everyone take a guess as to how many items she had on there and what they were. There were prizes for correct guesses, and the bride got to keep the apron and all it's goodies afterwards of course.

    I like the recipe game. How having the guests answer questions about the bride and groom. The person who answers the most right, wins the prize.

    My SIL hosted a bridal shower for me this weekend and had a great idea!

    She bought glass plates, terra cotta pots and a tons of different colored paints.

    She asked everyone to paint something for my fiance and I to be able to use later.  Everyone, including myself, painted something completely different!  They will be great reminders of a great day!
