What are your processional/recessional songs?

I want classical, but am using an ipod/speaker to play them (it's hidden and the DOC works it, no worries :)) so I need to be able to find a good version on itunes.

Here is my current list that has changed a few times...

Seating of Mothers:
Schubert - Ave Maria (I think violin version)

BM processional:
Pachelbel - Canon in D

Bride processional:
Dvorak - Romantic Piece No. 1

Recessional:
Handel - Hornpipe from Water Music

What music are you guys using? All of those songs are on youtube in the first couple search results if you wanna check them out!

ALSO:
Cocktail hour - those of you with DJs, are you going to have them set up in time to play cocktail hour and just play the genre of music of your choice?

  • Processional: (guys, with moms, and bridesmaids) Somewhere Over the Rainbow/ Beautiful World by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole
A Thousand Years (starting at 2nd verse) by Christina Perri

Recessional: God Gave Me You by Blake Shelton
  • For processional for the Bridesmaids I am using Trumpet voluntary. for my entrance I actually have a soloist who will be singing "When I first Saw You" from Dreamgirls. For my Recessional.. we are sticking with tradition and playing the wedding march.
  • We're also going the iPod route (well it will be set to a laptop with a password, but year)

    Preceremony
    Classical piano music

    Processional
WP/family: Han Solo and the Princess (instrumental)
me: I'm Yours - Jason Mraz (instrumental)

    Recessional
Good Day Sunshine - the Beatles (instrumental)

During the cocktail/dinner time we are playing two hours worth of Vitamin Strings Quartet covers of popular music.

If you are on Spotify I can share the playlists I've made.

  • Hmm. Question about this... For the Recessional and the songs with actual lyrics, are you suppose to just use instrumental or is it ok for there to be lyrics too? We're having a hard hard time picking out songs =(
  • BMs - Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring
    Me & Pops - Canon in D
Recessional - All You Need is Love - the Beatles

Cocktail hour - modern covers by a string trio (like VSQ)

We're doing the instrumental versions of all our songs with lyrics.

[QUOTE]Arisia - genius idea for cocktail hour music! I'm a fan of VSQ and looked at some of their stuff for processional songs but FI didn't care for the ones I picked for a moment that important (he didn't want us to be remembered as the Taylor Swift wedding LOL).

</div><div>Yeah, same! The cocktail hour and dinner done to VSQ covers seems like a great way for us to get popular music out there without too many people noticing. FI is a huge fan of Radiohead.. which doesn't scream wedding.. but a VSQ cover sounds nice.
