It's true, I really dislike buying Christmas gifts. Not because I don't want to spend the money or don't like giving gifts -- but because I seriously can never figure out what to get people! This year, I'm really wishing we could just skip the whole gift exchange thing and just drink and eat cookies. Deal?
Anyway, my struggle points (like every year), are the in-laws. FI and I typically give a joint gift to his siblings and their SOs, but I like to get something for his mom and her fiance that's just from me. Any great ideas?

You could also do a little movie package - popcorn, movie theater candy, and a few cheap DVDs.
Or if they like coffee, a coffee gift set with a starbucks gift card. Do they have a keurig because I know those little things get expensive so that might be a nice gift.
For example, if they like to cook, there are cooking classes at Mirapoix in the Holiday Market in Royal Oak. (I've hinted several times I'd love this............Kevin's just deaf sometimes, LOL).
Google around for activities in the area that revolve around their interests...... a wine appreciation thing at Andiamo's, or if they like guns, a shooting range gift card.
A hot air balloon ride, or bungee jumping, or whatever.
Maybe a housecleaning gift certificate for maid service, or 4 hrs of organizing services from a professional to reduce clutter.
If they are stressed, a massage certificate or yoga classes.
It's always nice to find something they can put on a shelf and look at and say "Look at the great gift so & so got us"..........but I personally like experience type of gifts. It shows some thought was put into it.
(I'm also getting into a mode of "less is less" lately. Trying to reduce my clutter & stuff)

In a pinch, I'm liking the idea of a themed gift basket. Something edible means it's not sitting around for years and years clutting things up :-)

[QUOTE]Thanks everyone for the ideas! Sue -- I'm with you on the experience things. And the paring down. I've already done the massage thing, and frankly I have no idea what FMIL's fiance's interests are. Hmm.. In a pinch, I'm liking the idea of a themed gift basket. I'm all for experiences or themed gift baskets. We are doing a coffee related gift basket that we are putting together for SIL, and for my mom we are doing a local gift basket. We are living in West MIchigan right now, and she lives in Rochester so we got all kinds of local things, coffee, granola, honey, jam...etc... these are all things she will use, and she is on a local/Made in MIchigan kick right now.
