Getting in Shape

Yay runners!

"Jogging at a slow pace for one to two and a half hours weekly provided the most significant benefits"

So even if you aren't planning on running a marathon in the near future, you are probably reaping the most benefits!

Re: Yay runners!

  • woot! I'm not a runner. In fact, I'm pretty awful. BUt I try to get in about 6-10 miles a week (ie two-ish days of running) just to keep my system on it's toes. It's so important to mix up the work out routine :)
  • Thanks for posting this! I'm not good at running and I've been getting discouraged!
  • YAY Running! 1.5-2 hours is my long run a week! Love it!

Miss Sunshine Running endurance is very psychological. It takes time to build that. Speed and endurance take time. If you are running at all you're doing better than most, who dont run at all. Average pace for most runners is about 11 minute mile.

  • Yay runners! I'm doing a half marathon with my brother and his soon-to-be fiance this weekend, as well as her dad, sister, and brother. It will be her first half, and she's getting in shape and losing weight which is great because...

HE'S PROPOSING ON FRIDAY, as long as the ring is ready! After six years, it's about time.

But in a classic show of sibling rivalry, I'm going to try and beat him. However, I ran a 3:30 marathon a couple weeks ago, so I'm not sure whether that will work out or not. He's just now rounding back into shape after losing about 40-45 lbs. It will be a difficult battle. :)

I will say that I dropped 30 lbs between September and January by cleaning up my diet, doing speed work, and adding a long run. So, it's a great way to get in shape, ladies.
