Ex brother-in law was asked to be in the wedding

My fiancee asked his EX broither-in-law to be a groomsmen. The groomsman had been married to his sister for 20+ years. What are your thoughts on this? His sister is hurt I'm sure...but was it inappropriate to ask him?

I would say yes, in my opinion, it was inappropriate if his sister is upset about it. But if they have an OK relationship and the sister is alright with it, then I don't see a problem if the ex is truely a good friend of his. Maybe he should talk to her to make sure he isn't crossing a line.

No, I don't think it was inappropriate at all.  If he was married to your fiance's sister for 20 years your fiance and his family have probablly gotten very close to him and become friends.  Your fiance shouldn't have to not ask him for fear of others reactions.  I understand that his sister may be a little hurt, but she will just have to deal with it for the day.   The day is about you and your fiance and the wedding party should be those people closest to you.  I am sure she will understand.
