NY Barn or Farm Wedding for under $10,000 - it will happen!

hi fellow knotters...

i just joined and am recently engaged! so excited, that i've already started on the planning for next May/June 2012.  I am looking to have around 90 guests.  So far, i have found that i only really have two options (maybe you have suggestions?) :

1. The Queens County Farm Museum - for $1800. Does anyone know about the food/drinks if i go with the Smoking Grill BBQ? Possible to get it for $3000-$4000 or am i dreaming?
2. Windfall Dutch Barn for $300- Salt Springville, NY - Miller's BBQ for catering. Any info about this venue before we venture 4 hrs up there? About Miller's, service, alcohol, set-up, etc?

And overall, anyone have info on BYOB and restrictions with this? I'm literally going to put wine bottles on the table and have coolers of beer :)

Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

    We're getting married here: www.themansionsaratoga.com

They have an awesome barn from the early 1800's on the property, and they'll do weddings there.

They let you rent the entire property, and they are reasonable and VERY friendly. They can do EVERYTHING on site (Food, cake, tables, linens, etc.)

Maybe an option? I'm not exactly sure where you were looking though...

i like pruyn. i really do. ima little worried with all the add ons that would be needed. has anyone had experience bringing catering into them?

we are looking for food and drink to cost about 30-40/person.

the more research i do, the more i find that the prices rise the more you have to rent...so far my plans are working out tho ;)

maybe we can make this a thread for all those in the same boat mdeilly. don't give up!

Oh, don't be discouraged!! You'll find someething!  How about Hickory Ridge in Holley?  I only know of it because my husband was just there - I know they have a place for a reception - don't think it's a barn, tho.  just google wedding venues in the Rochester area and lots of stuff comes up -good luck!

    Hi Hedycoleman-

Unfortunately I have no advice to offer you.  But you have greatly helped me! I love the Windfall Dutch Barn and it's not too far away from me.  Do you have any idea how to contact someone regarding the barn?  I may have looked right at contact information, but I swear I didn't see anything!

    Thank you in advance!

Best wishes in your wedding plans.

I have been in communication with the guy that runs the Windfall Dutch Barn.  Its $400 if you have a wedding and they give you Friday for setup, Saturday for the wedding, and sunday for Breakdown.  You can even camp out there.  Pretty awesome.  If you need contact info for the guy out there, I can probably get it for you.

Looking for the same route near the Albany area! I looked at Pryun House. Also looking at the Stablegate through Birch Hill, which is under construction but I love the idea of. Any other suggestions not too far from this area and not breaking the bank either? I'd love to do a low-key pig roast or something.

We had ours there back in Sept. Prices have probably went up since we were one of the first weddings. We paid $1000 for 2 days.  Email april : rounda@rpi.edu .
It was perfect, very rustic inside. It has 2 floors wich was cool. We fit 140 in comfortably. message me for more photos/info!

hey "mdeily"  I read that you were looking for somewhere in Rochester- if you are looking for a barn- check out Springdale Farm Bed and Breakfast: http://www.springdalefarmbb.com/events.html.  It is about 20 minutes from the center of the city.

Yes The Mansion in is AWESOME !    You have a beautiful barn and countryside, along with a beautiful, well appointed place to stay.

In addition, I would like to suggest Meme's Florist. They have done many weddings at The Mansion Inn, the fabulous designs by the owner herself and the price point can't be beat ...

I would also suggest The Lily and The Rose for catering...top notch

FYI, the Pruyn house will be unavailable next fall. I called them today, and they will be starting renovations in September of 2012

Full Moon http://www.fullmoonresort.com/barn-weddings-gallery.html = beutiful area! Lots of nature with a creek, large grounds, on site lodging. The barn has been expanded and doesn't look a whole lot like a traditional barn but they have really good food and are very easy to work with!

Olde Tater Barn http://www.theoldetaterbarn.com/ = great barn, beautiful new floor, he even said he was going to renovate it a little to have a better outdoor space for people to be during the reception. You can get married on the grounds around the barn which are pretty and he can even do the cerimony if you would like. They have a nice bar and attached kitchen where they or someone else can do the cooking. John is very easy to work with and really knows his stuff. No lodging on site so you would have to get a bus for your guests.

MKJ Farms https://www.facebook.com/mkjfarm = their website is not helpful but the barn is great!! He is sort of new to the barn wedding sceen and is willing to work with any idea you have. The barn is HUGE!! and the bar inside is a beautiful piece of woodwork. Cerimonies on site are encoraged but the place to do them is sort of awkwardly on a hill.

Springdale Farms http://www.springdalefarmbb.com/events.html = we have not been to this one but the website makes it look gorgeous. The reason we have not looked into this further is because they kick you out at 10 or 11 because of noise codes.

Frog Pond B&B http://www.frogpondbandb.com/ = Gorgeous for a small wedding!!! You can get married by the pond and have the reception in an old carriage barn that has a ton of character!! And there are even a couple rooms on site. It is tucked away a little and a hidden jem!

The Barn http://www.thebarnparty.com/ = This barn is great! Absolutely beautiful inside! It has very well manicured landscaping, it is rustic, well kept, and even smells great! :-D. As others have said, it is very clost to the road and the owner is difficult to get ahold of.

The Red Barn http://www.margaretville.net/catskills-attractions/attractions-listing_.php?id=183 = closed

Stone Tavern http://www.stonetavernfarm.com/WEDDINGS.html = GREAT PLACE! Was our number one choice until we realized that we could not afford it. They do a full weekend weddings there and you get the run of the place. Barn, gazeebo, pond, horses, ATVs, fire pits, paintball if you want! And they have a beautiful site on a hill that overlooks the catskills for your cerimony!

And here are some links that we have not actually been to or talked to:
