Rehersal dinner location

Just curious where some of you married ladies had your rehersal dinner.  We're probably going to have 30 people at ours, and would love a nice steak and seafood place.  There are tons of options in Wilmington, but just wondering if anyone had a great experience at a certain restaurant in the area.... or on the other hand, had a terrible experience at a restaurant I should avoid!

We had ours at Buckley's Tavern in Centerville.  We loved it, and it was just the right ambiance that we were going for.

We haven't picked our rehearsal dinner place, but Buckley's Tavern is great!  I go to their brunch whenever I have a free Sunday

My favorite restaurant is in downtown Wilmington... Chelsea Tavern.  It can be a bit pricey though, so depending on what your budget is, that might not be the best option.  But a lot of the good steakhouses in Wilmington are going to be pricey.  I also recently had a good meal at The Washington Street Ale House.  And they have a dining area that they could definitely reserve for large parties.

Paprika: I like it when you burp in my ear. It really turns me on.

We had ours in a private room upstairs at Iron Hill Brewery on the waterfront.  We did appetizers and then a buffet dinner.  If you've ever eaten at an Iron Hill, you know their food is delicious (cheesesteak egg rolls...yum!).

I can't speak to how it was to work with them or cost, however, and my father in law arranged and paid for everything.  I do know he had pages of many different options to choose from though.

I agree with dibsontop. My FI's sister had her rehersal dinner at Iron Hill brewery on the waterfront back at hte end of May. Very nice. dont think it was too expensive. Great food and a good sized room.

    Thanks! You girls rock! :)

It's kind of awkward because FI's parents are arranging (kind of) and paying, but they keep asking us for ideas!  I don't want to suggest something too pricey, so I guess we'll give them suggestions across the board.

Walter's Steakhouse used to have decent pricing on their banquets. And you get the room upstairs to yourself. It has been about 5 years since my friend had her rehearsal dinner there though.

Walters is definately pricey! Great food though and they do have a cute little room! Parking could be a problem though.

We are doing a brunch somewhere because our rehearsal has to be in the morning (there is an event at my venue the evening before my wedding). We are looking into Kid Shalleens just because I loveeee their brunch. I didn't know Buckley's does brunch. I've only beeen there for lunch and dinner. I love that place! Maybe I'll bring that up to the FMIL (she is arranging everything).

The only place I went to around here for a rehearsal dinner was the Italian rest. on Union St (Mama something-its a "famous place...) and the food stunk.

I keep getting emails from Union St Grille and saw ads for Columbus Inn.  Personally, I have always liked Walters food so much better than Sullivans or other steak houses.

Iron Hill is a great idea :)

My friend just got married in may and had her rehearsal dinner at The Wedge. It's right over the border in PA on 896, (Literaly, right over the border) and it was so much fun. They had karaoke that night, so we got shifted around a little, but the food was great, (steaks, seafood) the ambiance was awesome, and they're still a newish restaurant, so they're not ridiculously priced. I would recommend it a little earlier there though, as they have a regular crowd friday nights. If we do a rehearsal dinner, we're going to have ours on the Thursday before. Less crowds, time to relax the day before... etc.

Reading these posts before 8am and I'm craving some steak! Haha!  Walter's is a GREAT idea, pricey, but you get what you pay for!  Didn't realize they had a larger room for larger parties - that's great to know!

I don't live in DE anymore and you all are making me miss it with these restaurant suggestions! :) Oh well -- only a few more weeks until Christmas!

When you mentioned steak and seafood I thought of Sullivan's or Harry Savoy... but neither are cheap.

We were thinking of Pomodoro's on Union. It's right next to Union city grille. It's authentic Italian and just what we're looking for.

I had my rehearsal *lunch* at Cafe Napoli on Kirkwood Highway.

There's also Lamberti's Cucina, Mrs. Robino's (on Union), Cafe Gellato in Newark, Soffrito's (yum!), etc.

I like Walters (DH's dad takes us all the time) but I really don't think their food is all that special for the price.  Sullivan's is outrageous.
