Yesterday we headed on up to Delaware for a fun filled day of wedding activities. First, was a meeting with our priest. This was the second of three meetings, the final one will be in August/September. This was the big one where the priest gave us a marriage interviews and then discussed them with us along with some other discussion about our relationship and what we thought our strengths and weaknesses are. We were nervous going in about what he was going to ask, but it was actually a pretty good experience.
After that we grabbed lunch and then met up with the caterer just to go over some basic details. We needed to discuss things like vegetarian and kids meal options. I also got to see some pictures of the venue set up for other weddings. The serveware and linens are all included, so nothing to worry about there. We will be paying extra for chair sashes though, so I wanted to take a look at the the colors. Otherwise we just discussed details about when the final count and meal choices would be given to the caterer and what time we should tell different vendors to show up. Overall, pretty productive.
Finally, we drove down to Newark to meet with Bings Bakery about a small cake. We're doing individually boxed cupcakes (made by myself and sisters) but still wanted a small cake for the purposes of display and cutting. This is all FI has been looking forward to, cake tasting. They were great to work with. We were given three books full of pictures of cakes they've previously done to either pick out one exactly as it is or just to use them as inspiration to show them exactly what we wanted. We settled on a small two tier cake. Both tiers are going to be exactly the same with pound cake and two different fillings. The first filling is a chocolate buttercream and the other is raspberry. So yummy!
So, a long day, but a lot accomplished. Since we don't live in Delaware, I find it's easiest to arrange several meetings for one day and knock them all out at once. Oh, and when we got home, the two paper samples I had ordered came and now I'm ready to start playing around with designing our invitations!
