Budget Wedding

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for reasonably priced venues, etc in Clearwater or Tampa area.  We expect to invite about 130 people (most likely not all will attend) and the "must have invites" list is about 100 people so we really can't cut costs by editing down the guest list, as most sites suggest (his immediate family is HUGE).

We are trying to stay as budget/DIY as possible but are planning our FLA wedding from New England.  We are going to FLA in November and I am trying to narrow down places based on our budget etc now so that we only visit a handful while in town.

Welcoming any ideas from other Florida brides for venues or ways to cut costs!

I would look at the Davis Island Garden Club. Almost everything there is DIY. You can bring in your own caterer, drinks, and other vendors even though they have a preferred vendor list. Your family can even cater if they wanted to. Also, the rental fee covers the whole day and it's on the water. It's very budget friendly.

The Tampa Woman's Club I believe you can bring in your own food and liquor.  They have plenty of parking and they're right across from the bay.

and the Shriners next to A la Carte Pavillion you can bring your own food, but you have to purchase liquor from them.

Rusty Pelican is a great place for a wedding, depending on your budget.

Thanks for all the suggestions!! I have my heart set on the Rusty Pelican from what I've read online and the photos I've seen but I know the FH wants to try to go a little cheaper than it seems they might end up being for the size of our guest list.

I was in a wedding that held their reception at the Tampa Women's Club; awesome time but since we will have a lot of out of town guests I think we are leaning towards ceremony & reception at same place if we can manage.

Davis Island Garden Club just moved from maybe-visit-list to definitely!!  I'm excited to research Shriners and all the Clearwater suggestions :) You ladies are awesome!!! Thanks again

Hi! We're planning a destination wedding for Spring 2012 in the Sarasota area. We love the idea of a small resort near Siesta Village on Siesta Key so our out of town guests can walk to the beach, shops, restaurants, etc.  We're planning to have the ceremony on the beach and then take everyone to a nice restaurant.  then, we'd like to return to the resort for an informal cocktail party.  There are plenty of restaurants to choose from, but we can't seem to find a resort that is walking distance to the Village and will allow us to have a small private outdoor cocktail hour at night.  Any suggestions????

Have you looked at Ofelia's restaurant? That might be perfect for a cocktail hour or small reception.
