A Dessert Bridal Shower

How should I go about planning this?
-What time should it be? I don't want guests expecting a full meal when just desserts will be served.
-Should games be played?
Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thank you

Plan it around a non-meal time, like 2pm and people wouldn't expect much food.

I don't know anything about shower games, but you can do them if you want or not if you don't. It depends on your guest list. Some people just like to chat and hang out, but if you have a bunch of people who might like some games, go for it.

DD's shower was a dessert and wine/lemonade shower.  Each BM brought a dessert that she had made and a bottle of her favorite wine.  I provided a fruit and cheese platter, and the lemonade.

It was, as retread said, in the early afternoon-I think about 2 pm.  It was very inexpensive for the WP and the desserts were yummy!!

And I really don't care for shower games at all, so I'd just nix them.

"I've never been to a shower that offered a full meal."

I enjoy reading these threads to see the variations in regions and/or traditions.  I have never been to a shower, whether bridal or baby, that did NOT include some sort of full meal....most typically lunch or brunch.

I would suggest, that at least one non-sweet item, such as the fruit/cheese platter suggested by PP, be offered.  Also, if sweets are offered, I know many people would prefer to have a hot beverage, such as tea or coffee, to go along with it.

Every shower that I have attended has had "tea."  Which is funny because it sounds like an English tea party but no hot tea has ever been served...

    Anyway, they always include:
    coffee
    sweet/unsweet iced tea
    petit fours/cake
    cucumber/tea sandwiches
    nuts and mints

anything else is extra, nothing else is ever expected.  Always on china (I think because men are never in attendance, so nothing will get broke haha).

Almost all have had a few games.
