Invite Questions

I just wanted to do some research just to get a basic time frame you ladies used for sending STD's, Invites and RSVP's returns.

How far before the wedding did send out STD's?

How many months or weeks before the wedding did you send out your invites?

How long did you give your guest to send back RSVP's?

STDs - about 9 months before the wedding (we had quite a few people who had to travel)

Invites- 2 1/2 months before the wedding date

RSVPs- date due back to us was 2 1/2 weeks before the wedding date.  Doing this gave us about a week to contact the people who had yet not responded so we could give an accurate head count to our venue.

    I didn't do STD's so not sure what's best.

I was impatient and couldn't wait for invites to go out and responses to come in... so I sent mine out about 2 months or so prior to wedding (we had a lot of OOTers) and had the RSVP date 1 month before wedding.  I'm glad I did tho, cuz we had a lot of nonresponders and it took awhile to get answers!

However, for my bro's wedding in a couple weeks, his Fi sent them out a month before and has the RSVP due date like a week before.  That's pretty crazy close for me, but it's all in your circumstances and what you want to do.  GL!

We sent out STDs 10 months before, because most of our guests are from the east coast. People said they appreciated knowing so early so they could start researching flights, etc.

We sent out the invitations 2 months before the date, with a reply date 5 weeks after that (and 4 weeks before the wedding). This is the timeline my coordinator suggested, so that we have time to track down non-responders and also print the right number of programs/menus, make the escort cards, seating charts, etc. without being too rushed.

STD's- we sent them out 6 months before wedding date! On the dot!Wink

Invites: Since we have NOT sent them, but I have a plan already so I will share....

We will send them 2 1/2months before wedding date (we have some guest that are OOT and some of the country) here is my break down:

    Wedding Sept 25
    Invites out July 5th
    RSVP Date: Aug 13th

That still gives us enough time to call the guest that do NOT RSVP by the date without feeling the pressure!

    HTH!

Traditionally, STDs can go out 6-12 months before the wedding.

Invites: 6-8 weeks out, closer to 8 if you have a lot of OOT guests. I'm going 9 weeks out, actually.

RSVP date: as close to the wedding as possible, usually 2-4 weeks before. Find out when you need final numbers in and set the RSVP date a week before that so you have time to track people down.
