Roll Call: Who had uneven sides?

So many posts that "If I don't ask SIL to step down or if I don't ask some random girl to replace someone I'll have uneven sides and it will be SO NOTICEABLE I won't be able to stand it!" I admit that I never thought about uneven sides, but I also don't think it's so radical that people would risk friendships over it.

So who here had uneven sides?

I'll get the ball rolling:

1. Yes

2. 4:3

3. Yes, but DH's cousin backed out and he didn't have anyone else he wanted to ask. MIL tried to get him to ask another cousin who he isn't very close to, but he didn't really want him in the wedding.

4. None. And it's been 7 months and I've seen the pro photos, I've had ample opportunity by now to kick myself.

4- I am not married yet, but I don't think I could regret having our closest friends and family up there with us, and not some random space fillers.

1. Did you? No, but depending on the circumstances, it might have hapenned

2. What was the BM:GM ratio? 3:3. My sister and DH's sister. His 2 closest friends and my brother. We did not leave anybody out that we really wanted to include, and we didn't ask anybody that we only felt "ok" about.

3. Did you try for even sides? No, it really just worked out that way. But there were a few times when we weren't sure if my older sister would be attending (Or if she'd be hospitalized), and then 3 days out we thought the Best Man wasn't going to make it ... so it was very plausible one side would have been down 1.

4. Did you have any regrets? Nope. And had my sister or the Best Man been unable to attend for their reasons, I would have been upset that they couldn't make it, but it wouldn't have bothered me that my sides were "off" (Anybody remember my mother telling me I had to find a "back-up Best Man", and I told her I'd rather find more wine?).

1. Did you? Sort of...

2. What was the BM:GM ratio? 4:4 BUT one of the BMs is our photographer, so for the ceremony it'll be 3:4 and then in the formal WP shots it'll be 4:4 (her husband works with her and will take those photos)

3. Did you try for even sides? Originally I told FI he could only have 3 GMs because otherwise the ceremony would look weird. That lasted about 2 weeks until I realized how dumb it was.

4. Did you have any regrets? Not so far, and I can't imagine regretting it after the wedding.

3. Did you try for even sides? nope

4. Did you have any regrets? Well of course I do. 18 months later I still have nightmares about not having even sides. I'm now the blacksheep of the family.

All kidding aside. I can see people regret having even sides if they choose people simply for the fact they added people to make thing even. Since I only had who I wanted in the wedding I do not have any regrets.

I regret not knowing that you could have uneven sides. I didn't lurk this board until I had already asked everyone, gotten the dresses, etc. Now I know for my friends....

1. Did you? No, it will be even (unless someone drops out)

2. What was the BM:GM ratio? Well, we have 5 BMs and 4 GMs and 1 Best Woman ('honor attendant')

3. Did you try for even sides? No, it just worked out that way

4. Did you have any regrets? Nope! Got my best friends, best cousin, brother and Fi's siblings and best friend- it is all good! So far!
I will say that FI's parents were none too happy about him having his sister on his side at first, they figured she should be on my side as a girl, but she is FI's best friend! So we explained, and once they found my parents were okay with it, then they eventually came around.

3. Did you try for even sides? No. We included my two siblings and one friend apiece. We each had some other people in mind ... I would've had no more than 3 BMs, and FI might have had up to four guys. But in the end we decided not to include people we were talking ourselves into including, and we're very happy with that decision (since we drifted apart from some of those people a bit since then!).

4. Did you have any regrets? Nope, we LOVE that we're keeping it small, we've had zero problems with our attendants, and we've had a ton of people (friends, family, even vendors!) telling us that we're "doing it right" by having a small WP. I don't have anything against bigger wedding parties, but only having 4 total people has made things SO easy in terms of picking attire, organizing limos, figuring out a head table, and we haven't spent a ton of money for flowers and RD meals and gifts.

We did have even sides. I'll admit that.

If I had to go back, I would have added my brother to my side. Our relationship was a bit tricky at the time so I asked him to do a reading instead.

BTW, Mrs. B, I don't know if I've said it yet but congratulations!!!

3. Did you try for even sides? No, but it might end up to be 6:6, it might be 6:5 or 6:7. It really just depends. Fi has held off on asking most of his wedding party, but is approaching them one by one as he hangs out with them, sees them. One GM works in Saudi Arabia, so whether or not he will actually be in attendance is up in the air. The other is in Peru, and when/if he returns, Fi will ask him to be a GM.

4. Did you have any regrets? No, I have all of my best friends on my side, and he will have his best friends with him on his side. I can't see how that can be a bad thng.

2. What was the BM:GM ratio? Currently it's 6:5, but it might be 6:4 if his brother can't make it.

3. Did you try for even sides? Oddly, we actually tried for uneven sides. It was originally going to be 5:4, but then we decided to have my brother as a groomsman (we've since switched him to my side). FI really liked the idea of uneven sides, so he went ahead and asked a female friend he'd been considering asking.

4. Did you have any regrets? Nope! I'm actually really glad FI asked his groomswoman; they're pretty close, and since we cut down the guest list to just parents and WP, this way she still gets to come. (As a side perk, she's been fantastic with offering to help out with wedding stuff, but she's the kind of person who would have done that with or without a title.)

4. Did you have any regrets? No regrets so far, I can't bring myself to ask other people to be in my wedding party that i'm not close to. all the GMs are related or childhood friends. I'm an only child and only have two close friends and i'm happy to keep it that way. on a side note- i'm having them exit one girl with a guy on each arm

4 bridesmaids, 2 moh (my two sisters)

I really could care less if it's even, I figure my fiance's bestman will think he rocks having two hot young girls on his arm (they are 18 and 20 and he is 33 hahaha all though he better not try anything!!!)

My friend did this too in her wedding and it looked fine.

3. Did you try for even sides? Yes. We started with 3 and 3, but one GM was deployed. DH didn't see it fit to replace him.

4. Did you have any regrets? No.

Edit: We didn't necessarily TRY for even sides. We coincidentally had them to start with and then didn't attempt to even the score. So I guess the answer is actually "no" now that I think about it.

2. What was the BM:GM ratio? MOH, 2BM, 1 bridesman; best man, 3, possibly 4 GM

3. Did you try for even sides? We were even at first, then one of my BMs said she hated me and my marriage would fail and stuff, so shes gone. FI's brother may or may not be able to make it, so we will see

4. Did you have any regrets? No. Im happy with who we have, and also happy about the one we no longer have.
