Check! - Dancing Machine

Hi y'all.  I just had to do a giddy post about me and FH's first ever ballroom dance lesson on Sunday.  It was fantastic and we plan on going weekly.  He has never had a dance lesson of any type in his entire life so I thought it best to get started early.  We are just taking beginner's group classes and as we get closer to the date we will have private lessons and choreography.  He's a quick learner and no one would guess it!

The best part is they are really very reasonably priced because they aren't Arthur Murray or another one of the chains and it's fun!  It's a local style of dance that is based in our area and a way for me to include my culture in the day.  We cannot wait to surprise everyone at the reception when they see him swinging me about and dipping me.  Their mouths will totally drop open.  He has a lot of rhythm and just needed to know I believed in him.  I highly recommend this ladies as another great couples activity to do if you can.

  • I love the title of this post. I thought I might be reading about a dancing robot you hired to get the party started at the reception!

  • That's awesome! FI would die and possibly cancel the wedding if I asked him to take dance classes :) I'm pretty sure our first dance is going to look like a middle school dance.

  • Well, I've taken ballet and tap when I was little but nothing like this so we were both messing up the steps together! LOL  It's just good fun without stress because we've got plenty of time and there are lots of couples there.  He's such the serious British engineer with glasses type.  We're both geeks in fact complete with star trek and star wars fandom (but no attending conventions or wearing costumes).  So I know anyone can do it.  I highly recommend it.  It felt good to have him take the lead as a dance partner.

Thanks! Speaking of this...I'm thinking of asking the instructor to come to the reception and do a little group instruction for the guests to one song.  But I don't know if this would be fun or not.  It would definitely be to upbeat music but I'm not sure if that's too structured.  Of course no one would have to participate if they didn't want to.  And it wouldn't be for long.  What do you ladies think?  I thought it might add a dash of something creative and unique like I've seen on the tv show four weddings.  But be totally honest ok?
  • FI and I might end up doing dancing lessons.  It's all going to depend on how much time we have once he switches jobs and we get into a routine.
