Ceremony & reception music?

Fi & I met with Eddie B co and the DJ we would book if we go with them really awesome meeting and I feel super confident with them. I'm only curious now did you use or will you use the DJ for the ceremony as well?

Re: Ceremony & reception music?

  • We ended up hiring a guitarist through GigMasters.

My advice? Figure out what kind of songs you want to play in your ceremony first. If lyrics are important or you have very specific songs in mind, an instrument might not be the best choice or convey the same feeling or the person might not know how to play it. IMO, instruments look more classic/romantic, but I also wanted some songs that don't make sense unless you hear the lyrics so a DJ would better for those..... I guess it is a compromise.
One more thing, we went for the instrument to do something different and because our DJ would have had to set-up shop in two different areas (ceremony and reception) the charge was basically the same as hiring the guitar.
  • It really boils down to what you want...

We are having live music for our ceremony but for convience's sake going with a DJ for both is easier.

  • We're going with a DJ for our ceremony because we will be playing some Indian songs during the entrances and at the end.
  • We are doing a violinist and guitarist for the ceremony, the guitarist alone for cocktail hour and then a dj for the reception. :)
  • were using eddie b for the ceremony and were using his steel drum guy for the cocktail an then eddie b fo the reception ... have our final meeting in a week ... eeeeeek!

I did not know Eddie B had a steel drum guy!! That is very helpful information, because that is what I was looking for recently ... and all the people Ive found are like $500+! And we are considering using Eddie B, so thank you so much for that information!! :)
  • Eddie b is the best! His steel drum guy is on his website ... And it's also great that he's so familiar with the venue ... It will help with the sound quality ... He is always at the pelican lol
