Wedding Day Transportation Question

I will preface this post by saying I am waiting for the quote to come back once the WP submits my details to the limo company.  She may be able to get us a bundle package of sorts but in the meantime I wanted to get the thoughts from you ladies.

I will need to hire two limos for the day.   The first one will be a 14 passenger stretch limo to take the BP to the venue and the second one is a 6 passenger stretch limo to take me, my Mom, and my son to the venue and then take me and The Dude from the venue back to the hotel.

I can see the cost for the first limo where I have to pay for a minimum of three hours.

Its's the second limo that is killing me.  LOL!  I am most likely going to paying for 6 to 8 hours and at most I will only need three hours.

This seems like a lot of wasted hours and money to me but I think it is what it is.

My questions:

1.  Did anyone use two limos/cars for the day?  If so, how was your package structured?

2.  If you had to rent for a minimum number of hours that exceeded your travel time, how did you use the extra hours?

P.S.  I entertained having classic/vintage rental for myself.  The quote was for $1,054 before the 20% gratuity tip.  Ummm....NEXT.

  • hmmm..... I know you're not gonna like my response but.... I got a trolley. had to have it. i ended up getting to the ceremony in my mom's rental.

I would say get the limo for the BP. Can you rent a car.... a nice one.....modern convertible or luxury car for lke $400 for the day? It may be cheaper than the vintage route

  • i have ALL the same questions! i think i'm leaning towards one limo for the wedding party and possibly a luxury rental for me and my fiancé. i initially wanted to arrive at the ceremony in a vintage Rolls, but that quote for 6 hours?...waaaay too much.

  • I love the vintage idea, but that quote is crazy, just for a day.. IDK about that..

We are getting a party bus.. a 28 passenger... (cost is $1100. for 5.5 hours. we got a discount because FI tux rental)

They will pick me, my girls, and my mom and grandma up from the hotel about 1.5 hour from the start of the wedding.. we will go take pictures, then go to the church. he will then go back and get the guys.. everybody will have arranged transportation from the reception to their homes.. Our venues are close enough for the driving back and forth.. After the ceremony mom and gma will be escorted to the reception venue while bp go take pics..

  • Thanks ladies for all of your replies.  This is how I resolved the issue.  I will have a 14 passenger stretch limo for the BP for 3 hours.  The Dude will be in that limo.  To fill the time, they are going to take pics before coming to the church.  A second smaller limo will pick me up, my mom, my son, and my brother to the church as a transfer only trip.  After the event, a Town car is coming to pick up The Dude and I and our photographer and take us to DC or National Harbor to take moon light pics.  We will have that car for 3 hours.  This was the most economical to configure the transportation for the day.  My WP rocks!
