Bridal Gowns

hello all,

I was wondering where everyone went to get a dress and your experience. I have looked back previously to see and I was just wondering what everyones experiences were with the places they went to.

I am not looking for an amazing expierence honestly I just want a cheap dress that i love.

I bought my dress at Alan Ray Bridal off of Billingsley Road. I loved my consultant, even though I don't think she is there anymore. She was very knowledgeable and helped me pick the perfect dress.

You might also want to try looking at some of the married ladies' bios for vendor reviews of where they bought their gowns.

I tried on dresses at Wendy's, Alan Ray, Perfect Weddings (in Lancaster), David's Bridal on Sawmill, Running of the Brides at Filene's (in 2010), and Bridal & Formal in Cincinnati.  I wound up getting my dress at Bridal & Formal.

I had a good experience at each of the salons that I went to.  They all seemed to have decent selections in my price range, I just happened to find "the" dress at Bridal & Formal.

I picked up my dress two weeks ago. I spent about 700 in total but I saw other brides who walked in and gave them a lower budget and the consultants stuck with it. I was very impressed with that. We drove down to Bridal and Formal in Cincinnati. They are the biggest in the country I think. I was very happy with their service and the quality of my dress now that it is here.

    Good luck and congratualtions!

I just visited Cincy Bridal and Formal over the weekend and had a great experience. I still have a long way to go so I was really just trying on dresses to get an idea. Maria was my consultant. She knew I probably wasn't buying on that day but she was great and pulled tons of dresses for me. She also kept saying if I was interested she would talk to her boss to lower the price, but she wasn't saying it in a pushy way. I can see myself going back there!

I had three weekends of appointments set up but I ended up finding my dress the first day out. I was more a budget bride than an experience. I went to wendy's and they had tons to look at but most were in the $800+ range and tended to be more like the princess dresses. I wanted something slimmer and lace. I ended up getting mine at David's Bridal on Sawmill Road. They had tons of styles available in my size and price range.

I went to Alfred Angelo.  I got my dress at an AA store in Maryland, but we went to the one in Dublin to pick out BM dresses.  We had a good experience there. Also, if you sing up for their e-mails, you'll get all their offers.  They have some good sales, and they have a lot of things at different price points.  I suggest getting on their website and getting an idea of what you want.  Also, if you can, try to go during the week, particularly during the day. There will be less people and you will probably get better and more personalized service.

    Good luck!

Ditto Bridal and Formal.  I had a wonderful experience there and there are TONS of dresses to choose from in every price point.  Definitely worth the trip!

I went to Perfect Weddings in Lancaster and Wendy's.  Perfect Weddings was my first place I went to and I had an amazing experience.  The lady that I worked with was so nice and made dress shopping easy.  It was there that I found the dress but I didn't end up buying from there.  I went to Wendy's the next day and I honestly didn't enjoy my time there.  The lady that I had was sweet but she moved soooo slow!  The girl next to me literally tried on 3 dresses before I even got into one.  Also, Wendy's was SUPER crowded when I went.  I like places that have a more boutique feel so you get more of a personal experience.

The place where I got my dress is called Altar Bound Bridal in Beavercreek.  They had my dress for a couple hundred dollards cheaper than the places in Columbus, and they also carried Bari Jay, so my bridesmaids got 10% off their dresses.

I got my dress Friday at Wendy's Bridal.  They were having a sale to compete with the Filene's Basement sale Friday.  I didn't find anything at Filene's so we went to Wendy's.
I went to Wendy's twice.  They were really nice both times.  I liked one, thought about it for a couple months, then it was in the sample sale Friday.  I ended up getting my dress for $350.  They were reasonably priced anyway.

I also got mine at Wendys. I worked with Erin and she was great!  My future sister-in-law (brother's fi) got her dress there as well and also had a really good experience.

However, I got my bridesmaid dresses there as well, and we worked with a different consultant. The experience was not as good. She kept getting confused on which measurements went with which girl, and they seemed to be trying to push girls to buy a size too big. (My thought is they want the alteration money.) I know sometimes its better to be careful, but one of my bridesmaids fit into the sample which was a size 0 and they tried to get her to order a size 6. Kinda crazy if you ask me.

I ended up with my gown at Trumpington in westerville.  Its super cute and the ladies there are super nice. They have lots of dresses I hadnt seen anywhere else (like mine) and all within my budget.

I had a negative experience sat Wendy's and Davids.  I didnt think the ladies at Wendy's were very polite, and my asociate at Davids kept wandering off and didnt help with any dresses,  My poor mom was exhausted after Davids.

I shopped at Bridal and Formal in Cinci, European Bridal in Cinci, Alan Ray, and Universe Bridal.  I would say the biggest selections were at Bridal and Formal and Universe.

Cassandra: Maybe I saw you at Wendy's becasue we did the exact same thing! Went to Filene's found NOTHING, so we went to Wendys and the first dress we pulled I knew was it before I even tried it on! It was not part of the sale but was still a great price in my mind and we were thrilled it was only my second time trying on dresses. Lila was my associate and she was great-- of course I was an easy client since I literally tried on one dress and bought it within 15 minutes.

I also went to perfect weddings in Lancaster. I had an AMAZING experience there. I had been speaking to one of the consultants on the phone because they didn't have the dress i wanted to try, she pulled a dress without even meeting me and was spot on. it came down to the dress she pulled and one i thought i'd never wear. Plus BM get 20% off and grooms tux is free. ring bearer is 50% off, and the groomsmen we got a scratch off so it'll either be 10,20, or 30% off....  =)
