Linens and problems

So my mom and I went to look at linens today.  It was kind of fun.  I'm totally stealing the idea Britt had to have colorful napkins at the place settings, and those will really add color to the table without being too much.  Like this.  So I'll have ivory table cloths and charcoal napkins out of this crushed satiny material.  No chair covers, though.

Then I saw this GORGEOUS embroidered rose tablecloth that was way too expensive that I decided I HAVE to have on the head table.  It's definitely a splurge, but I just couldn't resist.  It's only 1 table, right?

But anyway, so I was talking about head table cloths and I came upon the realization that I cannot fit my entire bridal party at 1 head table.  :(  There's just too many.  I don't want to line up like 3 or 4 tables.  So I'm rethinking my head table plans.  The current thought is putting me, FI, MOH, and Best Man at the head table; then having two 10 person round tables on each side of the head table with our bridal party and their spouses (and kids if they come).  There's only room for this if I have 2 husbands of 2 of my BM not show up to the wedding.  I've already had 3 BM tell me that their husbands might not be able to make it.  However, if all of them RSVP yes, then I'm back to trying to figure out what to do with my bridal party.

Re: Linens and problems

  • Head tables are tricky! I hope it all ends up how you want it!
  • I have a smaller wedding party, but only myself, FI, MOH, Best man, and my 2 children (flower girl & ring bearer) will be at my head table.. I have 2 round tables close by. 1 for my parents/grandparents, and 1 for my brothers/sisters.

Maybe you can split them into 3 tables so that the spouses can join. even though the tables can sit 10, you can always set them up for 8 or  9 for that matter so you don't have empty chairs.

Always save the spouse a seat just in case they change their minds at the last time. I would not suggest this if they weren't the spouse of a BM.

  • What if you did a sweetheart table? It would be a really small table cloth, and the bridal party can sit with their spouses and families if they choose to come!
  • If I do a sweetheart table, then I'm definitely going to have to add another bridal party table.  I really don't want 3 smaller number bridal party tables because that takes up extra room which I don't really have.  Besides, my MOH is my sis, and I was just planning on having her husband and kids sit at a table with my family.  I think that would be more comfortable for them than sitting with a bunch of bridal party members they don't know.  And FI's Best Man is his brother, and his girlfriend is our videographer.  So she won't be sitting down a whole lot anyway, but during dinner, I was gonna have her sit with FI's sisters.

And I'm not worried about husbands changing their minds at the last minute.  All 3 of them have to travel over 1000 miles to get to the wedding, so with travel plans, that doesn't really allow for last minute changes.

I think I'm going to plan as if 2 husbands aren't going to show up as far as linens go, and if I get more than 1 yes on those husbands, I'll rearrange.  Oooo.  I can't wait to do the seating for the entire wedding!  *sarcasm font*

I appreciate the suggestions ladies.  It's just always frustrating when you have one thing in your head and suddenly realize it's just not going to work that way.
