Just could smack my Dad sometimes!!! VENT

So I get a phone call from my Dad last night as I was making dinner... and we are chatting away about the usual, health, work.. etc.. And he tells me to "hold on" someone wanted to talk to me. So I am thinking, he is probably calling one of his relatives on three-way that I don't know that well or haven't seen since I was a little girl who wants to send their wedding well wishes. So on comes the line a cousin of his, who in all honesty, used to babysit me when I was a teeny tiny thing and I haven't see or heard from in YEARS! I say hello and of course all of the other pleasantries that one would expect and out of NOWHERE she says to me... "Did you send me an invite to you wedding? I'm still waiting to get one". WTF??? I didn't send an invite to her becuase like I said, I haven't seen or heard from her since I was a little girl. Apparently, my Dad was running his mouth about how excited he was for the wedding and everything to her and NOW I have to invite her because I was caught off guard and hoodwinked by my own father, because he didn't have the nerve to ask me for an extra invitation himself. So because I felt guilty and pressured by the phone call, I had to apologize of course for not sending her one... making up the excuse that I didn't have her address, and now I have to make room for her plus her husband. After we disconnected, I called my Dad back and let him know that under no circumstances is he ever to do that to me again! I can't beleive he backed me into a corner like that!! AHHHHHHHHHHH!

  • Oh man! What a rotten situation to have put you in! I want to smack him and he's not my father! I know that given the situation you probably couldn't have thought or talked your way out of, but I would have said saomething like "I'm sorry for the misunderstanding, but we don't have any room left" or something. What's done is done, and I hope to God your father, or anyone, doesn't do this again. And if they do, stand your ground and say "sorry, no." Good luck with that.
  • Ugh that is so annoying! I might even call them back and say you are sorry, but there isn't room. I hate when people put others in that kind of situation.
