Fall wedding menu

I need help coming up with a menu. I have a caterer that is also a family friend, and I need to give her a menu. It's a fall wedding in Oct. We're very simple people so we dont want any of that roasted chicken with pumpkin dip kind of stuff. We're thinking along the lines of: Lasagna, Grilled Chicken, Salad, rolls & such. What would you do? Thanks!!

Is your wedding a fall theme, or just taking place in October? To me, food dictates a theme If you're looking for a true fall themed menu, here is what I think of:

Harvest salad (mixed greens, cranberries, apples and walnuts)
    House Salad

Roasted pork loin with cranberry and orange  chutney
    Roasted chicken
Pumpkin ravioli with sage butter sauce

Specialty drink: Apple cider and rum
Specialty dessert: Apple  and pumpkin pie

If you're not into this, I don't think lasagna, grilled chicken and salad really scream "Fall". It doesn't meal these aren't OK to serve, but it's kind of boring and I think you can have fun with fall themed foods.

Hmmm...maybe if you're football fans you could do a gourmet take on Tailgating foods to celebrate fall and football season (to me, the two are interchangeable!)  Here's just a couple things I was able to think of...

Buffalo chicken tender roll-ups (chicken fingers tossed with buffalo sauce rolled into a tortilla with lettuce, tomato, and ranch drizzle. Sliced thin.

    Spinach and artichoke dip

Puff pastry wrapped chorizo with spicy mustard dip

Loaded baked potato soup (can be vegetarian w/o bacon)

Beer can chicken quarter served over gnocchi (or pasta if that's more your cup of tea) in a bacon-parmesan sauce and topped with a sour cream drizzle

    And, why not, lasagna!

It sounds like you could do an Italian-themed menu.  Do you have a wedding "theme?"  If you want lasagna, grilled chicken, salad, etc. why not have a "Romantic Italian dinner" complete with lasagne (with meat sauce,) caesar salad topped with grilled chicken, etc.?

Here is what I would serve (if I were doing an Italian-themed dinner.  If you're doing an Autumn wedding, you could do "Autumn in Italy" as a theme...keep the Autumn colors and such if that's what you're doing, but make it Italian based on the food you want:)

    Beef Lasagna
    Penne Pasta with Vegetarian-friendly sauce
Caesar Salad or a nice house salad with Italian House dressing
    Garlic Bread

Thanks!! It's not really a fall theme as far as food. It's just an October wedding with brown & orange colors.

Hey I'm having troubles with my menu too. I'm doing the Lasagna for the reception. I don't want to get any on my dress or guests nice attire.
