Venue Help/Intro

Hi ladies, I have been lurking for about a month so I figured it was time to say hello! I am getting married 9/2/2012, my colors are Navy and Cream,  and I am super excited! I am on a pretty tight budet and I was wondering if anyone had any venue suggestions they would like to share. I am located in Philly but willing to travel about an 1/2hour to 45 min if price is right. I am planning on inviting about 100 and I want to spend no more than $77 per person and that has to include tax and gratuity. I know that is a stretch but any help you ladies can give me would be greatly appreciated! And I look forward to getting to know you all :)

    Welcome!

I'm not going to be very helpful on venues but you may want to think about having your wedding on Friday or Saturday to help you keep costs down.

My friend used this venue (The Austin Room location).  Their food was delicious and their cheapest wedding package is $65 pp including open bar.  It's located in Delco.

    Welcome, Johnson!!

I do think that budget is going to be a bit tight.  You're looking at about $60-$65 pp with 21% gratuity.  You definitely won't find that in the city, and I think even in the 'burbs will be tough.  I'll see what I can find out.

The $77pp... what is that including?  Some venues are a bit "all inclusive" and they'll give you centerpieces, a cake, linens, etc.  They are a bit more expensive, but they include a lot as well.

Paprika: I like it when you burp in my ear. It really turns me on.

P&P Caterers in NE Philly has awesome food, beautiful halls and would absolutely fit your budget.  My best friend had her wedding there and it was a great time!

P&P was a bit pricey for me. My budget was under yours. They dont include alot in their packages. I would check out Georgine's in Bristol. They include your dj, cake, open bar, linens and are way under your budget. and their pricing includes tax and grat, they have 3 different packages to choose from and they all fall under your budget.

Hi and Welcome! Check out Lazarro Ballroom, Heritage and the Oaks Ballroom (all in Delco) and see if they can work with your budget. The Lazarro (sp?) is close to the airport and practically in the city.
September is a really busy season though so I am not sure how much wiggle room you would have if there prices are higher than the $77... if that makes sense! (I think they have packages that are pretty close if I remember correctly)
Good luck and let us know how you make out!

Hi, check out Blair Mill Inn in Horsham. We thought they were decent when we were venue hunting. They included most things like chairs, cake, etc...and their packages started at $72. We ended up picking another venue, but maybe it suits your wedding.

I am getting married July 2012 and also have a very tight budget! We are having our reception at the Mendenhall Inn.  It is $75 per person and that includes everything including tax & gratuity.

I would check Mendenhall Inn, Concordville Inn, Oaks Ballroom, Austin Room

I love Cairnwood. You have to use one of their caterers but I think you may be able to get in that range.

@ RecoveringActor, I am mainly looking for food and booze lol. I am a super DIYer so if the cake and centerpeices are not included it is no biggie. Great if they are though

I'm all for super DIYers!!  I'm DIYing a few things (table numbers, escort cards, and programs) but that's pretty much it.  I'm crafty... but my crafts have their limits.  We have a couple of DIY brides here.

Please keep us posted how your venue search goes! :)

The caterer I am using isn't tied to a particular venue but he does have a list of places in Bucks County and Montgomery County. Buffet prices are around $60-$75 pp with a chicken, pasta and fish entree and carving station. Also included deserts and wedding cake, silverware, glassware and linens. The venue I chose was a "bring your own alcohol" so I can purchase it where ever I find the best prices (many Knotties have suggested DE).

<div>Except they have a $5000 fee to use the space.  So I'm going to guess that is out!  As it would then up the pp charge.  </div><div>
</div><div>One of the girls suggested a really pretty place last week, Ridley St park maybe?  You can bring in your own food and booze I think which would cut your costs.  </div><div>
</div><div>I would also consider changing your date to save money Aug or Nov would open up places out of your range in Sept.</div><div>
    </div><div>Also ask for discounts.  I did.  </div><div>

Check out the Brookside Manor at Somerton Springs. They have a $65 pp package that includes gratuity. Tax wouldn't make it much more.

That was me that suggested the place in Ridley Creek State Park. It has a rental fee (less on Fridays) but you can bring in your own food and booze like they mentioned so you can save there. here is the website:

Its gorgeous. I fell in love with it when I was in the park one day for another reason but they were doing renovations in the kitchen and weren't booking weddings at the time b/c they didn't know when they would be open again. I think you would be good to go by now.
Its an amazing space in the middle of a gorgeous park!

Ridley is gorgeous but I know many brides complain it's very DIY.  No on site staff to help you out.  This site has lots of pics if you're thinking about Ridley.  http://romanceatridleycreek.blogspot.com/ Any of the sites using Lia's catering will have excellent food! They're good about working with your budget too.  Kings Mill is picky about using their people so you don't have a lot of choice, also have heard their hors d'oevres are very frozer out of the the acme type (there's nothing wrong with that if it's what you are expecting).
