Need help with DIY projects- Maps/Agendas

Hi ladies-
I've avoided anything DIY so far for the wedding b/c I seem to always mess it up.  However, I am committing myself to making the maps and agendas.  Since we have a lot of out of town guests, we're doing gift bags at the hotel when they check in and want to include a map of the city- so they know where to go and other things to do when they have down time, and an agenda so they know what time to be there.  I went out and bought A9 paper at Paper Source last weekend.
Does anyone have any good programs or suggestions for making/printing maps?  And how do you deal with the funky size of A9 paper when you're printing from home?
Any advice would be helpful.

  • I used  http://www.weddingmapper.com/ to create maps for my wedding. I created the whole map I wanted on their website, then I print screen'ed and copied the map into Word (I probably did a little editing in Paint just to remove the browser window and such). I printed out one copy at home, and then printed the rest at Staples. We didn't use any special paper, so I can't help there.

This is exactly what I did too.  Weddingmapper has step by step instructions on their website, very helpful.  I made the map that I wanted, hit "PrintScreen" button, pasted into Word, and cropped the image.

I did the same as PP, though it was easier for me to manipulate it in Powerpoint (more tools).  The other suggestion I have is to make the roads perpendicular vs. tracing exactly how they intersect...this allowed me to fudge the scale a bit...otherwise it would have been one big map!
