Re: Wedding Magazines

  • I don't know how or why, but since I've been engaged I've been getting Brides magazine for free each month (Perhaps someone purchased a year-long subscription for me, but I have a feeling it more has to do with the Bridal show I went to selling my contact information)

I like the magazine, although each one kind of has the same stuff.  They were really helpful though before I bought my dress.

  • Honestly, everything is on the internet.  Pinterest has given me way more ideas than any magazine I've looked at.

I used to work at a library and we had a subscription of Brides magazine.  I would look through the new issues there and we would only keep 1 year on hand, so when they were ready to toss the old issues, I took those.  They sat around the house for a few months, I probably flipped through each one once and then we finally tossed the stack.
  • I found them helpful in the initial part of our planning and when I was looking for a dress, but now that we pretty much have our decor scheme, centerpieces, etc pretty much figured out I haven't bought any more.

  • I subscribed to Brides.  Occassionally, I would buy the TK mag and Martha Stewart Weddings.  All in all, I wish I had saved my money.  Pretty much everything you need to know is online.

  • I bought a couple Brides magazines, but I would never pay to subscribe, since most of the ideas I'm borrowing came from Pinterest.  :)

  • If you're not interested in subscribing, or trying out before you subscribe, the library usually has copies of bridal magazines. Or go to a bridal show and usually they have one or two different magazines that they give. But like some people said, the internet has lots of ideas as well!
  • If you like the magazines, you will save so much money on subscribing.  The Martha Stewart wedding mag is seasonal, but expensive.  Brides, totally worth it to me.  It cost like 15 bucks for 12 issues instead of 48+ if I bought it at the store.
  • I bought a couple of local magazines to get more information on vendors/venues/etc., but other than that, I've done the bulk of my wedding browsing on the web.
