afternoon wedding opinion pls!!!!

We are thinking of havIng a small afternoon wedding. What Is everyones honest opinion of this afternoon wedding breakdown :

Ceremony : 10:30

Reception: 12-4

After party at our house ( we would serve more food and alcohol here too)
5-?

At around 430ish bride and groom would go take all desired extra pictures but would have already gotten desired group shots from church ect.

How far away woudl the ceremony and reception area be from each other?

I would maybe do the ceremony at 11, for some reason 10:30 sounds so early, but 11 seems more like afternoon. Just a perception. Then you wouldn't have to worry about filling a possible gap unti the reception starts at noon.

Otherwise, if that is what you want, I think it sounds great!

They are very close... But if it starts at 1030( it's Heinz chapel so I don't have a choice) it would be over by 11. I agree that 1030 does sound super early and am worrying about what time I would have to get ready that day...7? I won't be having a big bridal party so that will help. So many things to think about!!!

Have you already booked heinz chapel yet?  They have a 12 or 12:30 option, which seems more afternoon to me.  If you do get the 10:30, that's fine too, just make sure there isn't a gap.  For some reason I'd be more upset by a gap in the morning, but I'm not sure why.

I think morning weddings can be lovely and can provide the opportunity to have food and decorations that are unique.  I went to one wedding that started at 12 with the reception immediately following.  The after party wasn't til 8:00 pm, but that was actually nicer as a guest, cause I could go to my hotel and take a nap.  It probably just depends on your guests.

We haves talked logistics with the venue but I'm sure they would allow our guests in at 1130 to start the cocktail hour ... We just can't do the later church time because we have to be out by 4.... Thanks everyone....I'm feeling a little better about this!

I just saw your comment that you have to be out by 4. Are they brining in another wedding?

I was recently at a wedding where they do 2 receptions in one day. So, while the wedding reception I was at was going on, they were tearing stuff down outside and inside to prepare for the next wedding. It was super tacky, and I felt bad for the bride and groom.

Also, with an afternoon wedding, I'm not sure I would do dancing. This wedding, they did but only the bride and a couple of her bridesmaids danced. It was kind of weird.

My co-worker just received an invite from his friend for his wedding. They are getting married at Heinz Chapel at 10:30am. Then they are having a noon (I think it was noon) reception at a hotel.

Just wanted to share so you know that you aren't the only one :) Good luck deciding!

Beth... This may sound weird but you just made my day!!! Thanks for all the help and feedback... I know it sounds like a small thing to frett about but I don't want my guests to be inconvenienced at coming to such an early wedding. I'm happy to know others are doing it also!!! Thanks girls!
