Todd (my fiancé) and I had gone down to Marco Island to stay at his family’s condo and watch what I thought was the Christmas Boat Parade. He was being super sweet and sentimental and telling me how he can't wait to start the next chapter of his life and move to Arlington, VA with his best friend. Next thing I know, he's down on one knee. We had been watching the TV series ‘The Office’ where Jim keeps pretending to propose to Pam, so I told him not to mess with me and that he needed to get up.... it wasn't until I saw the engagement ring that I knew he was serious. I started jumping up and down.. of course I said YES! All of the sudden, I look over and see a photographer, capturing the entire thing. Of course, we took advantage of them being there and took a ton of photos to remember the moment. We rolled up our jeans and headed into the water (even though the water was freezing) for some more pictures. I ended up getting my jeans all wet! Todd suggested we stop by his parents house to throw my pants in the dryer and show off the ring before we headed out to the boat parade. When we pulled up to his parents house I saw lots of cars in the drive way. Todd had said that his mom must be having a dinner party. I wasn't sure if we should go in, he said it is not every day their son gets engaged and that we were going in anyway (apparently I am really gullible). So we went into the house- low and behold there was a surprise engagement party for me there, with all of our best friends. Needless to say there was no boat parade. The diamonds in the ring are from his grandmother’s engagement ring, from the 1930’s - cut by hand, before they had even invented computers to cut diamonds! Todd got the diamonds placed in a setting I showed him from a boutique in Virginia, just a few blocks from where we plan to move... he got our names engraved on the inside, I absolutely love it, I love him so much!
