aviation themed wedding in D.C. area

Hello! My fiance and I met in college at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. Both of us are Aviation fanatics and would really like an aviation themed wedding. I loved the idea of getting married at the National Air and Space Museum until I found out you can't hold weddings or receptions there! Now what? Thinking a wedding in our church or synagogue and reception in an airplane hanger? Any ideas from some locals perhaps?

Try calling the College Park Aviation Museum. Not sure if they do events, but it's worth a call. You might be able to do the ceremony there and the reception nearby on or near the University of Maryland. http://www.collegeparkaviationmuseum.com/Home.htm

My fiance also graduated from Embry-Riddle! I know the Air and Space Museum out by the Dulles Airport (which has the SR-71!!!!) holds events. My FI's work holiday party was there this year!

I tried both the Udvar-Hazy and the smithsonian museum. Neither said they would do weddings or receptions that were personal or religious in nature. If someone works for them or donates a lot of money they can sometimes host an event that is cosponsered by the museum or some kind of figure head apparently. I definitly will check out the college park aviation museum though. @ katjofred when did he graduate? I may know him.

He graduated in 2000. I know he flew and had his license but he is an aeronautical engineer.
