Mexican Ice

I know not to drink the water in Mexico, but what if one of my drinks has ice in it?  How does that work?  My HM is in one week and it is also my first time in Mexico!

Re: Mexican Ice

  • Most restaurants used bagged ice that they purchased and is purified. I've never had a problem with the ice. That being said, when you order water you always should order it in a bottle. Typically they bring you your drink unopened, and a cup of ice to go with it so just don't use the ice. If you're thinking about mixed drinks, again, the ice is bagged and usually fine. I eat at some shady places in Mexico and have yet to have a problem.
  • I've been to Mexico about 17 times- You'll be fine in any touristy destinations- hotels, resturants in/near a hotel zone ,ect. If you venture off for an excursion, then, yes, make sure you get bottled water. I've never had an issue.

  • Most resorts have filtration systems, as PPs have said, so you should be fine
