Barn/Outdoor Venue

Hi!
I am newly engaged and my FI and I would like to do a very casual yet elegant wedding.  We had talked about having the reception in a barn or an area where we could have a tent.  We live in SE Wisconsin and are having some difficulites finding a location that is not super expensive and also doesn't have a whole lot of restrictions.

Any and all help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  We have looked into the parks around here and most have such goofy restrictions with alcohol permits and the witching hour of 10PM.

Thanks!!

Try looking into Old World Wisconsin, Ten Chimneys, Trimborn Farms, and Schlitz Audabon Nature Center.

I was going to suggest Trimborn Farms -- I'm not sure what their restrictions are but I think they're less than the Parks!

This isn't exactly the same thing, but I was at an event at Discovery World downtown and there was a wedding reception in a tent next to Discovery World. It was really beautiful and right on the lake, which might be another option.

Racine - Festival Hall has a beautiful white tent over looking Lake Michigan with an indoor location in case it rains

Kenosha - Anderson Arts Center does tented receptions

You could also try contacting local campgrounds.

Thanks Everyone!  I did not think that this would be so difficult...
I have my heart set on a caterer, and they are only on a few venues list for preferred caterers.
My FI joked about having it at the Airport in a hangar that he uses for helicopter storage... Im beginning to think that might be our only option.  Wish me luck.

I know you said SE WI but we are getting married in Door County in an old barn/art gallery.  Ceremony outside on the lawn, dinner under a tent out back and dance in the barn.  Not too expesive and you can bring in anything you want.

  • I ahd my reception at Old world wisconsin. i loved it! if u want pics or any questions u can contact me

  • We looked into a bunch of places.  We went to the Old Pabst Brewery today.  I can not say nicer things about this lady and their facilities.  They seem to be very willing to accomodate all of our goofy requests as well as having a big enough space for our 350+ guests.  My FI wants to go see more places but my heart is pretty much set on this place :)
  • MySparkly1111,

What is the website for the Old Pabst Brewery you visited??

    :)

    Thanks in advance!
