Anyone have their engagement photos in Pasadena?

We live in Pasadena and a good friend of ours is taking our engagement photos, probably next month.  I have some ideas but Pasadena has so many beautiful places that I'm curious where other couples have taken their engagement photos.  So far, I'm thinking City Hall is a must, the Colorado Bridge, and maybe some places in Old Town.  Does anyone have any must-have shoot locations in the area? • City Hall is awesome! You do need to obtain a permit ($$) to take professional photos there. Not sure how that works with it being your friend. I'm not familiar with other parts of Pasadena but I give a thumbs up for city hall!

Oh really? That's annyoing! Isn't it closed on weekends though, so if we just took the pictures in front or in that little outside hallway part maybe.  Thanks for the heads up!

  • I was there on a Saturday and no one stopped us and asked for a permit although I'm guessing it's possible or they wouldn't require one. I would guess the worst they could do would be to ask you to leave the property but again, I'm not sure.
  • thanks, I'm gonna call ahead to see what they say because on the City website there is a permit for photos and videos but it doesn't say how much they charge if at all.  I originally meant to post this on the Los Angeles area board but I think I messed up...I'll try to repost there.

  • I'm a wedding photography and I had no problem shooting engagement photos at City Hall in Pasadena. No one bothered me or asked for a permit etc.. we went on a weekday. You can check out the pictures here: www.hazelwoodphoto.com

  • Pasadena is a beautiful city, but I wouldn't restrict myself to the well-known spots, where your photographs might well end up looking like everyone else's. Find a quaint street lined up with gorgeous trees during a part of day that offers good lighting, and you might get some really cool shots. I can think of a couple of spots that might be nice. Still, city hall is pretty neat, and with an eye for originality, your friend might be able to connect with a couple of special shots.
