What is your young hot mom wearing?

My mom is 49, good looking and a size 0. I want her to look mom appropriate but non spinsterish, but I also don't want her to look like she's trying to be 25. Strapless is out - she won't wear them. The wedding isn't too formal, small catholic wedding. I'm wearing allure 8850 & my girls are wearing LBDs.

My mother is wearing a dress she's had for 20 years. Long sleeves, high collar, knee-length, in a color that complements, but doesn't match, the bridesmaids' dresses. I gave her the standard schpeal, twice, but she wanted more direction, so I chose my favorite of the dresses she already owns.

My Mom wore a Lazaro dress from his bridesmaid collection. It was a charcoal color with a v-neck (both in front and back), a-line skirt, pockets, and a bit of embellishment around the waist.

She looked amazing and definitely not the typical "Mother of the Bride" look.

Have you asked her what she wants to wear? She should really be picking her own dress, not you.

My mom actually is asking me what I think, which is why I'm asking. I told her to wear whatever she wants, but she is asking me for some direction.

My mom is wearing a taupe, knee-length cocktail dress. Calvin Klein, I think. We got it at Nordstrom Rack. It's not a typical MoB dress, but she looks great in it and she'll be able to wear it again.

When I was BM dress shopping this weekend there were several moms trying on BM dresses. One was opting for strapless and the other kept asking if straps could be added or if a little jacket could be made to go with it.

Take a weekend and head to Macy's, Nordstrom, Ross, some department store with dresses and go shopping together. It will be a nice bonding experience for the two of you, and you can let her know what you think.

My mother looks great for her age (57) and she's wearing this dress:

She didn't want a "typical" mother of the bride dress that she would never wear again and wanted something neutral that would blend into pictures. She will probably wear some type of shawl/wrap with it and she got some peep toe shoes in a darker beige color with a cute little bow over the toe.

I like the idea of going shopping together with your mother to pick out her dress.

I think cocktail length would be fine since it is less formal. I just gave my mom some color guidelines so she would clash with the bridesmaids, etc.

Something like this could be pretty, so she's not in black. Comes with or without sleeves.
