WTB and CHEAP Photog Suggestions

#1
Any peacock brides out there, I hear it will be popular this spring. We're getting married next Spring and on a strict budget, email me if you have any Peacock theme items you would like to re-sale.

#2
We are on an extremely small budget and photography isn't area where we can afford a whole lot. Has anyone had any good experiences using local students/amateurs? We basically have to stick under $700 for engagement/bridal/ 5 hour day-of photos.

Please give any helpful advice you have if you or someone you know has been in the same predicament/budget.

Thanks!

hey - no help on #1, but if you want to shoot me an email on #2, we can talk it out.  $700 is a fairly small budget for photography, but everyone deserves pictures that they love and that they will continue to love in 40 years!

We got our photographer at a ridiculous deal because he is just getting in to weddings. We really liked him at our initial client meeting. Photographer picks are largely personal opinion, but I think his photos are better than a lot of the $1800+ photographers we also looked at. http://bgustafssonphotography.com/

one of my good friends is getting married at the green pastures this september.  they picked the location because of the peacocks.  she's been scouring michael's and hobby lobby buying out all their peacock feathers at 50% off (sales & coupons).  i'll ask her to see if she wants to sell her centerpieces, decorations, etc..

question about the peacock...I am doing (or wanting to do..) a peacock theme for summer 2011..im afraid it will be overdone at that point..all the magazines are saying peacock is the theme for 2010! are you worried about this?

I thought Peacocks were popular in 2009! :P Peacocks were an inspiration for my wedding decor (but not a theme). www.allposters.com/-sp/Cordial-Medoc-Posters_i395117_.htm" target="_blank">This painting plus the cobalt blue at my venue really inspired my whole color palate, and I loved how it all turned out!

As for the photography, you could try emailing the www.austincc.edu/photo/" target="_blank">ACC photo department... there might be a student who would shoot your wedding and stay in your budget.

In particular, a good friend of mine is about to graduate from ACC... her name is Katie Hall and she's started her business called Moments Adored Photography. Not sure how much she charges, but I know she's worked with smaller budgets thus far! You might try giving her a call.

    Good luck!

Ugh. I don't know why the links got all messed up, but I'm too tired to fix it. It's not pretty, but you should get the message! :)

#1 - I have peacock colors (blue green brown & champagne), but no actual peacock feathers. My stuff will be for sale after my wedding on 4/24 & I'm just about to put a post up about some general items I will have for sale.

#2 - You should def check out Craigslist for photogs who are starting a business to get a good deal on photography. Usually they are trying to build a portfolio and sell their work for less in exchange for shooting more. I know that how Mujerboricua found her photog Nessa K before she got popular - a lot of the girls on this board help good photogs make a name for themselves. Good luck!

Thanks guys for the photo tips! I will check the links out.

I'm not particularly worried about the theme being over done. I actually arrived at this by loving the colors, later realizing they fit with the feathers.... googling them for WEEKS... then one day I saw a peacock theme inspiration board and thought HOLY MOLY! This is an actual theme? Great! I'll find ideas out there! Then the next day on my searches an article popped up for the most popular theme of 2011... LOL. Coincidentally I also have fallen in love with a 2007 dress that isn't carried in any store any where anymore.... and what style is it? Vertical ruffles! The new popular dress style for 2010! Go figure!
I really dont care what everyone else does for their wedding I arrived to these ideas on my own - not from magazines. Besides no one in my circle is getting married anytime soon and I'll be the first in my family so my guests wont be sick of it yet either!

And I see it as an excellent opportunity to by secondhand stuff at great deals!

Our logo is a peacock!  Back to your search though... Contact Will at

He's been a wedding shooter for video and photography for us for a couple of years and is amazing.  He's branching into wedding photography and I know he'd work well with your budget.  It'd be the best of both worlds for you guys, since he's certainly more experienced than a college student, has incredible gear and knows weddings in and out.

    Good luck!
