to put the number of guests on the RSVP card before you send it? So there isn't any unnecessary confusion as to who is actually invited.

    We actually personalized our RSVP cards as below.  I only recieved one question as to whether someone's children were invited.  It made things very clear.

    ETA:  If it was SOs not spouses, we included the SOs name.  If it was a +1, we put GUEST:_____________, so the invitee could fill in the guest's name.

    Mr. Tom Jones
    Beef
    Chicken
    Fish
    Veg
    Will Not Attend

    Mrs. Jane Jones
    Beef
    Chicken
    Fish
    Veg
    Will Not Attend

    I did pretty much the same thing as kj.  I actually wrote in the guests' and SOs' names.  We didn't do many +1s (only WP and guests that wouldn't know many other people), but when we did, we left the name line blank.  We also had each person RSVPing initial next to their meal choice. Our RSVPs looked something like this:

    Mr. John Smith
    Will Attend
    Will Not Attend

    Mrs. Jane Smith
    Will Attend
    Will Not Attend

    Initial Next to Entree Choice:
    Beef
    Chicken

    The problem with writing x number of seats in your honor is someone could bring a substitute guest. If you invite two adults but one can't make it the other could decide to bring their 2 year old because there is an open seat for them.

    That is an excellent point Hoboken.  It's the one of the reasons we did it the way we did.

    The only problem with personalizing them is the place we are using, we have to order in bulk, we can't make them individually.
