Retro and Vintage Weddings

We've Figured it Out!!.... Kind of.

So after reading some posts today (and many months of mini panic attacks!) I realized FI and I needed to narrow down our wedding theme. Realizing "Vintage" is too broad of a term was hurdle number 1! Done. I knew it was going to be a more casual wedding (my dress + BM dresses + FI and GM in suits) and I saw all these pictures and knew in my head what I wanted, but had no idea what to call it! NOW we've got it!!!

Vintage Chic is it!!!! YAY!

Have any of you ladies done this? And how would you recommend turning a very large reception hall into a vintage chic room? What types of invites, centerpieces, favors, etc. did you use to tie it all together? I have a terror of it being so mish-moshy... any ideas/help will be much appreciated!!!

  • Yay for making decisions (I know how HARD it can be!). I goign with a vintage chich theme too. At least, that's what I am calling it. This blog was a huge inspiration for meL

The antique looking picture frames will tie everything together. We are using vases and other vessels that me, my mother and my grandma already have in our personal collection.

Have you decided on colors yet?
  • I think you mean vintage "shabby chic" and that was pretty much the theme I was going for.  chic just means fashionable or elegant.  And you know what shabby means.  So something that is shabby and chic looks old and run down but is tres elegant!

  • Thanks!!!! Shabby Chic is even better, didn't think about that really, but I like it! And yeas, our colors are Navy, light pink, and Ivory. That website/blog is amazing!! I looove the idea of using picture frames as centerpieces - I never would've thought of that! We are already doing button bouquets instead of flowers (which are looking to be a huuuge pain in the butt, but will hopefully be worth it!)
