Experiences with The Manor House?

We're considering the Manor House for our reception--and probably for the ceremony, too.  I'm expecting it to be expensive, but how expensive should I expect?  I'm going to call tomorrow, and we'll probably go check it out in the next week or two, and I just want to be ready.  Also, is it worth the money?   TIA!!

I thought the Manor House was closing?  Maybe I'm thinking of someplace else...

I'm having our ceremony and reception at the Manor House (It's not closing, they are actually getting ready to expand and build a hotel on the 8 acres they recently purchased) this August.  I will say it's more expensive than most places I looked.  I couldn't be happier with the way things have been handled so far.  They are extremely helpful and give tons of great advice.  Just to give you an idea here is a basis for when you are looking at:
    -Ceremony is $1500
-Saturday night reception (4 hours) there is a $22,000 minimum.  To get to this minimum it's your open bar/dinner pp.  Plus any extras you want (chair covers, which are about $6.50 per chair, chargers, full length linens, etc.)  I believe Friday & Sunday have a $18,000 minimum.
-On top of the minimum, there is a 20% service fee plus 6.5% sales tax.

To give you an idea of what food is:  We are doing a buffet style and it is $37 pp and Open Bar $23 pp.  We are adding a cocktail hour between our ceremony & reception on the veranda and it is $7 pp for that hour, plus the cost of doing portable bars and hors d' oeuvres.

I have all kinds of other prices too, if you want to know more or have specific questions.  You can send me a PM or email me at abby.eling at gmail.com

Just want to add to the above post that different rooms have different minimums. A smaller room (150 person) has a minimum of 7000 and one slightly larger (180-200?) was 14,000. We had asked about a morning ceremony time, so these might be slightly higher at night, but not 22,000. Hope this helps!

Sorry if I made it seem kind of high, I guess I should elaborate on why we have a $22,000 minimum.

We are doing a night ceremony/reception.  So our ceremony will be at 6:30pm (if you get married in the evening they told me it had to be at 6:30).  Also offer daytime ceremony/reception and I believe they said the ceremony would be at 11:30 w/ reception immediately follow.  And we are also in the full Manor Ballroom (maximum capacity 600).  Our guest count is for 300 people.

Didn't mean to add any confusion!  Sorry!

We looked at the room with the covered courtyard adjacent. I thought that the room minimum was closer to $3500 but we were also looking at Friday night, reception only. For 200 people, we were quoted a little over $12,000. Depending on your guest count and time of year, I would highly recommend looking at the one with the adjacent courtyard.

I'm getting married there in May. Our room minimum is about $13,000, but with appetizers and an open bar and chair covers for 200 pp, we'll probably be closer to $15K. So far our experience has been mainly positive, although we're already working with our 3rd person due to personel changes. They really do take care of everything, so it's great for an out-of-town bride.

We are having our ceremony and reception there in July and it is DEFINITELY not a $22,000 minimum.  If the minimum was that high I would not be getting married there.  I have been completely happy with the service and the people I have dealt with.  I love the look and feel of the Manor House so I think it is worth the money.  I will say they do charge a lot for linens which is a rip off...but other than that I don't really have any complaints.

Your minimum will vary depending on number of guests, which room you want, time of year, etc.

We are having our wedding at The Manor House and after looking at a few different places, The Manor House is the best by far. The price minimums do vary based on the room, day and time of year. We are getting married May 28, 2011 in the gazebo. They offer the atrium as a back-up in case of weather, so you really have 2 areas reserved. There is a ceremony fee but no room rental for reception, just minimums you must reach. It may seem high, but when you add up the food and beverage you basically can meet that minimum.
I have heard nothing but phenomenal things about the staff, as well as the food.
While The Manor House may be more expensive than another option, it offers everything you could want. I highly recommend them, but make sure you book early bc they fill up fast!

My fiance and I looked into the Manor House. I did a whole lot of shopping around and found that while the venue is lovely and the staff is friendly, the whole package is just way over priced. We decided to go with The Madison in Convington. Make sure you do your homework before you throw down any money on the Manor House. Also, I was told that I would have to keep my wedding reception "down" if there was a wedding going on in the atrium. Wasn't keen on spending $16,000 and being told I'd have to keep it down. I also checked a lot of reviews that said their food tasted great at tasting and not up to par for the actual event. I wasn't thrilled that they only offer about two tastings per year. Overall, I wasn't even close to being convinced that they were the best way to go. I strongly recommend you do your research before committing to them, so you don't have any regrets!

I have planned many events with the Manor House and am having my wedding there. It is fantastic. The food is great, personnel is very nice, and they are always adding new things to better assist you with your events. For example, they have a trolley now which will look GREAT in my wedding pictures!
