  I was just in the Seychelles, which is MUCH closer to Somalia than the Maldives. We did not have any issues while on our vacation. We're probably going to do the Maldives for our 1st anniversary since we're having a destination wedding and you cannot have a legal wedding in the Maldives. Getting to the Maldives is expensive- expect airfare to be close to $2K/person. I imagine the luxurylink ads do not include air. You may also need to check if the luxurylink deals include interisland transportion. Most hotels are situated on atolls, so you need to either take a boat, plane, or helicopter out to your atoll. Depending on the atoll, your interisland transportion can add a bit of expense as well. Food is also fairly expensive, so if it doesn't include food or beverages, plan for $150-$200/day. Getting to the Seychelles took us about 2 days worth of flying and the Maldives are about the same. So, you definitely want to make sure your budget allows a stay of at least 2 weeks to make it worthwhile.
