Bridal Shower!!!??!?

I am getting married Sept 14th, my MOH says she wants to throw me a shower a month before but my soon to be MIL says it should be 3 months before.. Not sure if there is a proper time period or not.. any advice on this would be nice, thanks

IMHO, one month is plenty. It's not a baby, so it can't come early lol, so a month should be plenty of time. IF your MOH is throwing it, then she gets to pick the date, right? Unless FMIL wants to contribute, I don't think it's her decision. My FMIL is throwing me a shower just for their side, which really irritated me because I didn't want to have more than one shower, but she's throwing it and I didn't get a say. She also told me what date she wanted and basically said "Let me know if this doesn't work, otherwise that's when we're doing it."

Just my 2 cents, but I don't see a problem with your MOH's choice. If you want a formal answer on timing though, post in the etiquette board. They will probably have a better answer than me.

I think the general rule of thumb is 1-3 months out. So 1 month should be fine. If FMIL wants one further out then she can host that one. Your MOH isn't doing anything wrong.

I agree with PP that if she isn't helping host it, she doesn't get a say in the date! If your MOH is hosting it, she chooses when....

FWIW, my shower will be a month before. i think that's plenty of time.

Mine is going to be at the end of May because we have so many family events over the summer. So between family and my BM wedding a month after mine, the spring date worked out best!
