When to start maintaining?

75 days until I get married and I can't wait! When are you ladies going to move to maintaining versus trying to actively lose? I'm not overly concerned about stopping the weight loss train too long before the wedding because my dress has a corset back. Just interested to know what everyone's schedule is.

I'm moving to maintaining after my final fitting (about one month out from the wedding.)  I'm going to switch from doubles to classic (less cardio), and up my calories by just a small amount (still healthy food, though!)

edit: I also have a laceup back, so I have a little flex room, hence why I'm going a bit longer.

  • I started trying to maintain after my first fitting.  It backfired and I lost 5 more pounds in less than 2 weeks.

I'd start a couple weeks before your first fitting if you haven't already had it, so you have time to even everything out.

  • My first fitting is Sept 17 and we are getting married Nov 17th.  I also have a corset back which right now fully closes.  The dress is a 12 and I would say has to be taken in to a 10 for sure, if not smaller.  So I don't know.  I'll have a dress fitting again after Sept 17th, so we'll see how it goes I guess.  To be honest, I haven't lost a whole lot in the last couple of months, I seem to be maintaining now with 15-16 lbs gone.  I am happy with this weight, but another 5 lbs was my ultimate goal...

I guess I'll ask the seamstress about more weight loss in Sept.

wow..we appear to have a lot in common, including fitting date, wedding date, corset back and size and total weight loss...my oly difference is i want to lose more prior to the wedding.

  • I would ask your seamstress.  It will really depend on the dress.  When I went in for my first fitting I was told that because I have a sheath dress I likely don't have to worry about stopping my weight loss.
