Looking for unique wedding venues in New Jersey area

I am from the central Jersey area, and I am having a hard time finding the right kind of venue to suite our tastes. We don't like the banquet hall vibe. We have been trying to find something with more of an outdoorsy rustic feel. We have been trying to find something more like a winery, or a lodge, or even a tent in an area surrounded by trees. We are planning to get married October 2012.
Any ideas / suggestions?

Thank you!
J

Do you have a budget? Generally, these types of venues (and there really aren't many that we're aware of) are more expensive than the conventional ones. (Crossed Keys in Andover comes to mind - it's rustic and tented, but pricey. Same with Stirling Ridge, though it's more rustic-inspired).

Just going along with what the first responder said, what's your budget? And, how many people?

We're having our wedding at Rat's Restaurant at the Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton NJ (Near Princeton/Trenton).

Seriously, check that place out. You don't have to do your reception at Rat's per se, because the Grounds has their own very MODERN event space (sort of like a NYC loft style--exposed beams in the ceiling, bright green walls (that I've seen the color changed by up-lighting) and floor to ceiling two-story windows), and they work with some AMAZING caterers in the central NJ area.

Rat's however, is one of the most unique places you could find in NJ. I SCOURED the state looking for a very unique setting. Rat's is a 5 star French Restaurant with a very country-French, Moulin Rouge-type style going on. Very rustic, very brightly colored, very whimsical. And, it has an indoor-outdoor type of feel to it. Our reception has some tables inside and some outside on this BEAUTIFUL patio with a pond surrounded by gorgeous gardens, lotus flowers, and even one of the Grounds for Sculpture's main attractions: The Monet Bridge. It's made to look like Monet's painting of the bridge under weeping willows from the patio of Rat's. It's just such a romantic place, but at the same time, it's so quirky and fun.

Imagine a very beautiful scrolling grounds/gardens with all kinds of sculptures here and there, some very modern, some very impressionistic, some meant to look like 17th century paintings, some meant to make you laugh, some very romantic.

It's a one-and-done place. You can do your wedding photos on the Grounds with the gorgeous sculptures as your backdrop while your guests walk around and enjoy themselves. You won't have to miss your cocktail hour, and let me tell you: Rat's is SO beautifully decorated, you won't want to spend any money on decorations.

I can't recommend this place highly enough. Check it out online at www.groundsforsculpture.org

Take a day trip and see what I mean. You'll be impressed, I promise :)

Sorry my message was so long! Haha I wanted you to have an idea of what it was like before you decided whether you wanted to go check into it! But also just to tell you: October, it will be SUCH a beautiful backdrop for your photos. The leaves change, and there is an area of the grounds called "The Pumpkin Patch"... It's a whole bunch of different maples with leaves that turn all different colors in the fall, and a whole lot of GIANT sculptures of Pumpkins all over the ground. It would be so perfect for ya!
