how many registries?

For those of you that are registered ro registering how many registries do you have?  I just added a 4th!! Is that too many?

I found that I really liked BBB for some stuff, but its mostly random sitff and small appliances-new toaster, coffee grinder, steam clearer etc and I felt like everyone (in my area at least) went there to register. At Macy's we pretty much just did our fiesta ware and crystal.  Target has kind of a mix but again mostly towels, linens, and baking stuff all their calpahlon bake ware is cheaper.  So I had fallen hard for a duvet set @ BB&B but its already discontinued, between the 3 we really couldn't find another that wasn't $200 + and we both agreed on.  I added pottery barn just to register for duvet, shams, and bedskirt.  Is that bad to hae stuff really broken up like that?

Re: how many registries?

  • We have 3...Macys, Target and Sears.  I think 4 is okay.  People will search around your registries and purchase what they are comfortable with.  And, if they really are too lazy to look, they will just get you gift cards to those places or cash and then you can buy your priorities.  Honestly, if I'm going to a wedding I would rather have too many options than not enough.
  • Target
    Kohl's
    Amazon
    Pampered Chef

    My favorite is Amazon
    Photobucket

Just because you saw it on Four Weddings, doesn't mean it's a good idea.
  • Four is totally ok. I think it gives people more options. We started registering these past few weeks, as well. So far we've registered at Macy's and Target but are definitely planning on adding at least one more.

BTW Meagan - I think we are both getting married at Belhurst. Yay Belhurst brides! :)
  • what about something like registry 360? where you can link all those up and make it one registry?

  • Wow, this is interesting! When I first got married in '04, it was pretty risque to have 3 registries! Some people did it, but only if they had a large guest list. Large meaning 300 people. Otherwise it was considered bad etiquette. You girls have just given me an excuse to add another to our list! Haha! Thanks! :o
  • Yeah, check out the all-inclusive registry that TK sponsors called "Gift 360". You can add items from anywhere on the internet so you could combine them all and have 1 registry.
  • We have 2, but I'm thinking about adding a third to the list.
    Anniversary
  • We have 2. I have debated adding another, but was unsure how that would be received. Now seeing this (and knowing we have a 300 person guest list to boot) I think I might just go for number 3 lol
  • We only have 2... then again, we're only inviting around 100 people

  • We have one right now. It's a Macys and we're not quite done with it. I think we're going to do BBB too, but I'm not sure.

  • I've got Macys and BBandB. Honestly, they carry exactly the same things at basically the same prices. I tried to split things up evenly between the two because I wanted to give people 2 options of stores to shop at.

And 4 is perfectly fine. Most people look up your registries before they go shopping and they will just pick a store that they want to go to.

  • We have 3 standard registries (BBB, Williams Sonoma & Macy's) and 1 small speciality registry for sterling silver. We have invited about 250 people, so I think we're ok. Some girls over on the registry board might say otherwise...Like pp, I would rather have a variety to choose from and I think having a good variety of price points is more important than the number of registries.

  • We registered at three places: Bed Bath & Beyond, Williams-Sonoma, & Macy's.  We did china/crystal/kitchen gadgets/small appliances at BBB, cookware and bakeware at WS, and casual dishes and wine glassware at Macy's.

I personally think 3 registeries is the max.  Four would be okay if one store is a speciality store, but that's me.  Also, I've heard a lot of bad things about Target registeries.

  • i'm thinking about 3 or 4. i think BB&B is a shoe in. i'm also contemplating crate and barrel, target, and macy's. i think macy's will probably be a must. i LOVE target, but i'm just not sure what we'd register for there, besides maybe power tools for dan (seriously, he wants some).
    Happily married since 9/1/2012!

  • We have 2, BBB & Wliams Sonoma, and I was thinking about adding Pampered Chef after having a show recently but wasn't sure if it would be too much.

FI wanted to add home depot, but I read awful things about their registry and convinced him he it would be better to buy the stuff on his own.
  • We have not started our registeries yet, is that bad?  On some of the other boards they say that Target is a bad place to register, there are a lot of problems and such.  Anyone registered at Target have any problems so far?

i haven't started yet either, and we don't plan to until may/june. i've heard similar things about target from different boards, but i've never had anyone IRL tell me they had a problem with target.

  • I definitely heard that about target too, but I have shopped locally off of one, and had no problems, like I said we kept it to towels and bakeware/kitchen gadgets, so even if we get doubles no biggie.  I think Macys and BB&B is where a mjority of people will shop anyway.

We are at about 270 guests so far and honestly I know when I shop of registries I hate when there seem cleaned out really fast or I don't like or have acess to the stored they chose, so I hope that I've selected enohg thngs at each price point.  We don't need too much and didn't register for china sinceI already have a beautiful set from and we stand to inherit a few more.  We did crystal, which we don't have, but mostly becuase I'm obsessed with Kate Spade's Larabee dot.

My mom suggested not posting the Pottery Barn registry to our website and that she'll just recomend that to an aunt or someone who asks? Would that be weird?

It took me FOREVER to get my target registry started.  The kiosk was malfunctioning, it kept saying I was trying to do a baby registry...um NO.  Then everything I scanned said "limited quantity available" or was seasonal so I probably won't be around closer to the wedding date when people are shopping.  I ended up with maybe 20 things on the target one.  bbb is our biggest registry so far.
I hope you have better luck than I did!
