Reception location

Where is your reception?
What is the rental cost?
Are chairs, tables, linens, and place settings included?
Do you have to use their catering service?
Is alcohol allowed and how does it have to be served?
How many does it accommodate?
What is the style of the location?

Answer these and we can set up first hand ratings of local reception location. Plus I'm trying to get an idea of where I'd like to have mine!! I'm moving out of Columbus to DC in a month and a half and have to find a location for next spring. Eek... I'm a little behind!

Where is your reception?  Marian Center at Immaculate Conception

What is the rental cost?  I think ~$800

Are chairs, tables, linens, and place settings included?  Tables and chairs are included.  They don't have catering in-house, so the caterer provides linens and place settings.

Do you have to use their catering service?  They don't do catering in-house, though I think they have a preferred catering list.  We are using Berwick Manor.

Is alcohol allowed and how does it have to be served?  You can bring your own alcohol (big $$ saver!).  The only stipulation is that you cannot have a cash bar - Clintonville is "dry" so you can't take money for alcohol.

How many does it accommodate?  I think about 250, depending on how much other stuff you want in the room (gift table, cake table, buffet, etc)

What is the style of the location?  I'd say new, but simple and elegant.  Arched windows with high ceilings.

    Where is your reception?
    The Capital Club

    What is the rental cost?
The fee was waived, but it is 750 I do believe

Are chairs, tables, linens, and place settings included?
YES!  and you can even choose colors at not extra cost ;)  Also, they can put candles on the table at no cast as well.

Do you have to use their catering service?
    Yes

Is alcohol allowed and how does it have to be served?
They serve it.  They have beer/wine packages, or beer/wine/liquor packages.

    How many does it accommodate?
    150

What is the style of the location?
Modern-ish.  Beautiful chandeliers.  It's really nice so not a lot of extra decor is needed.  They have a gorgeous room to display the cake.  They are listed as a vendor on TK if you want to check out some pictures.

    GOOD LUCK!!!

Do you have to use their catering service? yes, exclusive caterer is Catering by Scott, who provides linens (colors at no extra charge) and table settings

How many does it accommodate? probably a max of 250 seated at rounds; for a more comfortable event, 150-200
What is the style of the location? urban, winery, exposed brick and beams, industrial

Where was your reception?  Little Turtle Golf Club

What was the rental cost?  It depends on which bar package you choose, and ranges from $100 to $1000 (more $$$ bar package = lower rental cost)

Are chairs, tables, linens, and place settings included? Tables and chairs are included.  They do provide linens but they are $2 per person.

Do you have to use their catering service?  Yes, but their food is DELICIOUS!

Is alcohol allowed and how does it have to be served?  It is allowed, and they have several different bar package options. We did the house bar option which included soft drinks, coffee, beer, wine, and house brands of liquor for $17/pp. Just beer and wine was $15/pp, but for us it was totally worth it (for our guests and ourselves) to pay an extra $2 pp for some yummy mixed drinks.

How many does it accommodate?  They claim 200, but I personally think that amount of people would be a tight fit. We had 115 that actually attended, invited 146, and I think that up to 150 would be ideal.

What is the style of the location?  I think it is very "casually elegant". They have white lights already up on wooden beams on the celing which adds a nice touch, and large glass windows that look out over a patio. Our guests really enjoyed being able to go outside during the reception, and we took small groups shots by the pond in the back.

    Yay! you did mine already
Only things I would add are:
Linen is white tablecloths and white napkins.  They waive the $2 if you rent linens elsewhere.
We are doing the $17 bar package also.
They are doing a custom menu for us at a very reasonable price ($15pp)
I'm very happy with them so far but we are still 11 months from the wedding :)

Oh good point about the white I forgot to mention that! I actually did look into renting linens elsewhere to add color, but then with all the other decor I had going on I was afraid it would be too much... the white worked for me but I'm more of a "neutral" person rather than color matchy/matchy :) The 17 pp bar package was perfect! The few mixed drinks that I had were pretty strong too so that made me feel better about the price! WOW that is a great price for dinner!! Did you still pick from their menu or did are you doing something else? The pecan chicken is amazing!

edit - I am super jealous about your dinner price now haha ;) I plan to post some professional pics of the room as soon as I get around to making a wedding bio as well, so it might help you to check that out if you want...

Where is your reception? The columbus Athenaneum
What is the rental cost? 500 dollars (if you book within 2 weeks of your first visit you get 50% off the room rental cost)
Are chairs, tables, linens, and place settings included? Yes, they include all but the linens are black, white, ivory and beige so if you want a different color you would have to pay a little more
Do you have to use their catering service? Yes, one down side catering starts at 27 pp
Is alcohol allowed and how does it have to be served? positive side is that you can bring your own alcohol.  They charge 200 dollars for each bartender with a tip basket and then you have to pay a 4.95 (for beer and wine only) or 6.95 (for liquor, beer and wine) to help cover the cost of cups and sodas and supplies needed.
How many does it accommodate? The room we chose holds around 300, but there are other rooms that can hold less or up to like 500
What is the style of the location? The venue is an old theater so it gives a romantic feel and to me it just said wedding.

Where is your reception? Ours was held at the London Country Club

What is the rental cost? The fee was only like $350 for the facility, which was really reasonable.

Are chairs, tables, linens, and place settings included?  The tables and chairs were already there. They were the high back leather chairs so we decided not to do chair covers. They were too expensive anyway. We had to rent the linens, which were like $12 a table and the napkins were like $1.50 b/c we did color.

Do you have to use their catering service?  No, but we did. They had a professional chef there at the time.

Is alcohol allowed and how does it have to be served?  Yes, but we could not afford an open bar. We just did a few different types of wine and beer.

How many does it accommodate? I think they said 150 is pushing it.

What is the style of the location?  It is a country club. It had a stage for a band/dj to set up and a wooden dance floor as well.

    Pics in bio.

Where is your reception?  The Everal Barn & Homestead
What is the rental cost? 1500ish, (cheaper if you're a Westerville resident, which we weren't) and varies on the day, how long you have the site for, and whether or not you include the farmhouse.
Are chairs, tables, linens, and place settings included?  Tables and chairs, yes.  We're going through our caterer to get linens.
Do you have to use their catering service? No, they have a rather long list of approved vendors to go through
Is alcohol allowed and how does it have to be served?  Dry reception =( Some of my family will be disappointed but they'll get over it.  We are having a lunch reception, so they can still get their drink on later!
How many does it accommodate? up to 150, I believe
What is the style of the location?  Rustic/Vintage...very casual yet a nice sort of feel to the place.

    buckeyesweetz-
we are doing a mexican buffet.  its not exactly high class dinner, we were going for more fun/casual so that's probably why the food is not as expensive.  They've never done it for a wedding but they do it for golf club functions.

Where is your reception? Franklin Park Conservatory-Palm House/West Terrace
What is the rental cost? I'm having my ceremony there too so it is slightly more expensive. Also their rental includes the beverage minimum for a saturday night (2500) so all together it was 6 or 7K.
Are chairs, tables, linens, and place settings included? Chairs and tables. I think technically you can rent linens from them but I am just getting them through a website because my caterer charges over double what it cost to buy them and they said they would still set them up for me.
Do you have to use their catering service? No, I think there are 10 options.
Is alcohol allowed and how does it have to be served? Yes, and no matter what I need to make the 2500 minimum otherwise I don't see it back. Shouldn't be a problem though.
How many does it accommodate? I want to say they said 300 but I don't think that's possible. I am having 75-100. I think 150 might be cutting it close but who knows.
What is the style of the location? Gardens/greenhouse. Basically I couldn't do a destination wedding because my mother is disabled and my aunt just became a quad too so I had to nix that idea unless I didn't want them to come. I felt like this was the closest thing in columbus to a destination.

    Where is your reception? Creekside
What is the rental cost? 3000 for Saturday night, but it is waived with a minimum
Are chairs, tables, linens, and place settings included? Yes, but if you want color linens they can arrange the rental for you. We opted for colored linens and chair covers and they arranged a rental with Connie Duglin Linens. They even set up several table and chair cover/sash combinations so I could see the options in person.
Do you have to use their catering service? Yes, but you can also bring in come specialty food items. For example, they let my grandma bring in her homemade cookies. Cookie tables are tradition in my family's culture, so Creekside let her bring in her own the morning of the wedding.
Is alcohol allowed and how does it have to be served? It is allowed, they provide it, and it's consumption-based. However, they will work with your budget. We decided on a budget cap (with the option to increase based on when we hit the limit), our open bar (not top shelf), we did a signature drink, and a champagne toast. But you could also just beer and wine.
How many does it accommodate? 300 or so
What is the style of the location? Upscale modern with a classic quality

Where is your reception? The Grande Valley Dale Ballroom

What is the rental cost? I think it is $1,700 for a Saturday night...somewhere around there at least

Are chairs, tables, linens, and place settings included? Yes to the tables and chairs, their preferred caterer includes white linens and colored napkins for free with their bridal buffet package.

Do you have to use their catering service? It has changed since we booked, but I think they have a preferred caterer or you can pay a fee and use someone else.

Is alcohol allowed and how does it have to be served? Yes, I cannot remember exactly how much it costs though.  I think beer and wine was maybe $14 a person.

How many does it accommodate? Minimum they recommend is 125, and it hols up to 400ish.

What is the rental cost? $1200 (prices have changed)

Are chairs, tables, linens, and place settings included? Tables and Chairs, no settings or linens

Do you have to use their catering service? You must use one of their 10 (or so) selected caterers

Is alcohol allowed and how does it have to be served? BYOB is allowed dependant on caterer;s policy

How many does it accommodate? Up to 200 but with a dance floor & buffet we're probably going to be tight at 150
