My photographer has suggested that we take our pictures prior to the ceremony. Is it really bad luck to see the prior to the ceremony? Is anyone else taking their picutres beforehand?
I REFUSE to take picturesw with FI beforehand. I just believe in that whole tradition aspect, and I value it as something important to me. IF it's not something that is that important to you than by all means forego it. But just make sure it's something you won't regret.
I plan to take nearly ALL pix before the ceremony. {Then again, I'm married. But before we got married, that was the plan.} I don't want the guests sitting there waiting 30+ mins for us to take pix. I've always hated that. And we're not having a cocktail hour, so they WILL notice all the time it takes for us to take pix. So, to eliminate that, we're taking pix before the ceremony and only a few after... like with the parents and stuff like that.
I know of lot of girls recommend it and the ones who've done it have said that it doesn't take anything away from the moment they walk down the aisle and they don't regret it at all, so it's purely a personal preference. FI and I have no desire to see each other before the ceremony though. It's not a superstitious things for us or anything, we just always imagined seeing each other for the first time when I'm coming down the aisle. We're also having a cocktail hour with an open bar, so the guests will at least have food and drink while they wait for us. To cut down on the amount of time we're taking pictures though, we are going to take separate bridal party pictures beforehand, so after the ceremony we can devote more time taking pictures with just the 2 of us.
We plan on taking our individual pictures before the wedding, we are not going to see each other until the doors open for the ceremony. We have a list of the pictures we want with the guests. We will take those first and then everyone can head to the cocktail hour while we take more pictures of just us.

Exactly! We're not superstitious either, but we wanted to keep that tradition since a lot of things about our wedding are not by the book...lol. Just that excitement of seeing each other for the first time as I walk down the aisle is something we both (especially FI) want to experience. Plus, I'm looking forward to a break (me & FI pic time alone) before heading to the reception!

We plan on taking pictures before the ceremony since we are still undecided about having a cocktail hour.
