I recently had a beach wedding in Mexico and thought that I would just get a simple dress online somewhere as our wedding was very low key. My sister strongly urged me to try on "real" wedding dresses and said that what I think I may like I may not like once I try it on and vice versa...and she was exactly right!
I was a little hesitant to go to a dress shop only because I thought it added a level complexity to my planning that I did not want. However, I decided to listen to her and made an appointment at The Bustle along with some other dress shops that some of my friends had recommended. I first chose The Bustle simply because it is about 2 blocks from my apartment and I drive past it all the time and I figured it would be a nice, convenient place to try.
I got an appointment on the day and time that I wanted and once I arrived with my sister and cousin, was delighted that the store was open only for us...I got on on one attention from the owner, Alison, who is a complete sweetheart.
We went through the dresses and I ended up trying on about 12. Alison pulled one without me knowing and put it at the back of the pile for me to try on last. Once we made our way through the other dresses and came to this one, she said it was her favorite one in the store at the time and that she thought it would look wonderful on me, and she was completely right! I bought it right there and then, cancelled my other appointments and never had any second thoughts!
I had two dress fittings, and the designer, a local resident was available to assist with these. I had some changes to the back straps that I wanted to incorporate and this was not a problem at all.
