April 2012 Weddings

100 days left til 4.22.12 Brides! (& Q about invite postage)

I can't believe we only have 100 days left! The invites will be here on Monday and I'll spend all week next week on them to get them in the mail.

How much is postage coming out for everyone's invites? Do you have to order special stamps?

  • I'm hoping to use Forever Stamps and to buy the rest of them next week (remember, postage goes up on the 22nd). I'm cutting/stuffing the invites this weekend so I plan to visit the post off next week to weigh them and get everything ready!

I think average price will vary based on how elaborate your invites are. Just take a trip to the post office to make sure!

  • Take an assembled invitation to the post office to have it weighed, they will tell you if you need extra.
Mine just required regular Forever stamps.  And don't forget the stamps for the RSVP card envelopes!

  • I just did this with a sample...my fully assembled and stuffed invite required bigger postage than forever stamps (grrr...by 3 freakin ounces!), so I have to wait to buy postage, cause I'm not buying 75 $0.64 stamps and then buying a bunch of one cent stamps when I mail them on the 1st of Feb.

I bought forever wedding stamps for our RSVP cards already, and will buy the postage for the invites after the 22nd.

Definitely go weigh your invites though, if there's any doubt about whether a regular stamp will work or not.  I weighed mine at work since we have a postage scale.

<div>I did this, like an idiot, and will have to go buy 1cent stamps. I forgot to tell the dude I wasn't mailing them right then when I ordered the stamps. Oh well...*sigh* At least 40 cents isn't going to kill my budget. ; )</div><div>

My invites were $0.64 when we got them weighed, but I made sure I purchased Forever stamps for the RSVPs...glad I did now that postage went up. I made sure to send out the invites at the three month mark (right before postage went up).
