  I've been to Maroma and Paraiso. Maroma has a more chic simple luxury feel than Paraiso. Paraiso was more glam and oppulence- warm reds, golds. Maroma had brighter colors and lighter tones. Maroma is 300+ rooms but also way smaller than Paraiso. Paraiso, if I'm remembering correctly, has a more personal butler/conceirge service. Maroma has a conceirge service if in Preferred Club, but it's not to the level that Paraiso offers.   We went to our honeymoon at the Excellence Playa Mujeres in November and LOVED IT. We did the Excellence club and I don't know if it's really worth the money, but we enjoyed the resort.

  We HMed at Secrets Maroma Beach and I've stayed at Iberostar Paraiso. I would definitely recommend SMB.  For Iberostar, there are several hotels on the resort; the only hotel I would recommend is The Grand Paraiso, which is the highest teir hotel on the resort and I believe the only one that's adults only.
