Father's day brunch

Okay so when my fiance and I got engaged we planned our wedding in Oct. and then around Christmas switch to June 16th. Well I have always just figured we would do a brunch the next morning with close friends and family to watch us open the gifts. Is this a bad idea since it will be fathers day???

Re: Father's day brunch

  • We are getting married the same weekend and I have also thought about doing a brunch the next day. I know a lot of other couples do the same especially if they have alot of people coming in from out of town. I have never heard of opening gifts during the brunch though. I would be careful how to approach it, would you only open gifts from the people that were there, like a wedding shower? It might get a bit akward if they did not know you were opening gifts or if you open gifts from people who are not there.

  • I would talk to those closest to you, see what they do with their fathers, brunch is very popular on father's day vs supper. Where i live we always have a gift opening the next day & eat up the food from the day before as well as drink the open beer etc  but that is tradition, informal as well.
