Please help us choose our reception venue!

We need to pick a reception venue by this weekend and we are torn between two places, Round Hill and C.V. Rich Mansion. Unfortunately, we cannot find many reviews online about C.V Rich Mansion.

I will list pros and cons of both so you can helpus decide in case you never have visited either place.

RoundHill pro's:
Great full time staff
Good Food
Best Value
Very Unique stlye - romanitic
very accomadating owner/matre d

Roundhill cons:
Further away from family and church
Space can be an issue as we have a large party

C.V Rich Pros:
Location- close to church
Great Food
good space

C.V Rich Mansion Cons:
More expensive
2 events in one day (but different times)
A little boring...needs more to make nice
Eventmanager not as accomadating

We would love to hear your advice!!!!

Re: Please help us choose our reception venue!

  • My company had there Christmas party at Round Hill a few years ago and to be honest I was not impressed.  Staff was not that attentive while food was being served (meat had rolled off the cutting board and was left on the floor til one of my coworkers picked it up).  The place itself is beautiful though.

I have never been to or heard of CV Rich Mansion so I can not comment on that place but the fact that it is closer to the church is a plus.

Are there any other venues you could go see this weekend that are closer to your church?

  • I'm all for a bit of a drive from church to reception venue, but if your church is near White Plains, I think making people go all the way to Washingtonville for the reception is crazy.

  • I visited CV Rich. We liked it overall, except it wasn't the top of our list, so didn't book there. We considered looking at Round Hill, but in the end decided it was a bit too far for us.
If you are set on having your church in lower westchester,I personally wouldn't do a receptoin over an hour away, especially considering you have to cross the bridge to get there from a church in/around White Plains (and anyone in this area knows that alone can be a nightmare)...and any out of town guests are going to have to make the drive back and forth to the hotel, which can only be closer to one or the other.  I think your church and venue should not be that far apart (ie. no more than 15 miutes), but that is just my two cents as both a bride and having been a wedding guest many times.
  • It sounds like Round Hill is what you want to go with but you're questioning the distance thing. I live in Westchester County and my venue is in Poughkeepsie, a full hour of driving away. I'm having people come from LI and I was stressed about the distance as well but ultimately if you're going ot love it more and it's less expensive then do the one that's farther away. You seem to really like the Round Hill one more. Plus a good place will be able to do a good seating plan for a place that's a little smaller. Unless you're going 100 over and the place only has room to accommodate an extra 20. Then you'd need to consider the other one. Go with the one you really love and have a good feeling about, otherwise you won't be happy and you'll keep thinking about it and doubting it. Then if you're worried about distances, be accommodating to guests. That goes a LONG way! I was at a wedding overseas in Spain and we had no resources and the couple was not accommodating at all and even had the audacity to tell us they were under budget... it was ridiculous. If they had put a welcome bag in the hotel with snacks and waters and stuff (we were at the top of a mountain with no stores, no food other than when the hotel would serve it which was limited and no access to transportation) it would have gone a long way with us and not left a bad feeling with us. Just a thought
