Affordable Venue for Rustic / DIY wedding in Central MA

Hello!  This is my first post as a newly engaged central MA bride.  I am overwhelmed with the research that's gone into finding the right venue!  We're looking for something simple, but for a large crowd (150), where we can bring in a caterer ourselves and do most of the decorations ourselves as well. I've been looking at some camps and barns, but everything seems to come with a $5000 facility rental price tag attached!  ANY and all advice would be hugely appreciated!!

Check out Sandy Burr in Wayland.  They work with 3 or so different caterers that vary in price range.  The max capacity is 150 though, so if you are expecting more than that, it might not work for you.

Zukas Hilltop Barn in Spencer, MA!
I am getting married there in October - when FH and I saw it for the first time we just knew it was for us.

Sandy Burr is nice too, we looked there first but our guest list requires more space. We rec'd it to our friends and they are getting married there in Sept.

    Good luck!

Blissful Meadows in Uxbridge is very affordable, but you cannot bring in your own caterer.  Their food is incredible and their portion sizes amazed me!  I cannot wait for my wedding meal.

The reception room, The Chestnut Room, is a historic, Victorian barn that was built in 1880.  It is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

You should check it out: www.blissfulmeadows.com

Ditto to Sandy Burr.  They can fit up to 150 (although that looks a bit crowded.  They're $1000 and include bar tenders, tables, chivari chairs, and 5(ish) hours.  Family owned and SUPER flexible. I'm having mine there and they've been SO helpful!

  • For those of you who are working with Sandy Burr....could you give me an idea of catering prices? My fiance and I are on a tight budget and want to something VERY casual dinner for 100 (no cake, no apps). We are hoping to spend no more than $4000 catering. I see that the work with Peppers, which is a fantastic catering company (my friend had them do her wedding), but I'm worried that prices might be a bit high. Could some of you who are in the process of planning with Sandy Burr give me an idea of catering costs?
