Cake Vendor I Wanted Already Booked!

Hi Ladies,

I wanted to check out and possibly book with Lakes Cakes in Commerce but my date was already taken. Does anyone know which cake vendors are comparable to Lakes Cakes?

    What was it that you liked about them?  That may help with suggestions.

    Personally I love Home Bakery in downtown Rochester.

    I really liked the designs on the cakes. It did not cost extra for intricate side work. It sounded like their slices of cake is larger than the standard slice you would normally get. Last but not least, they can make the whole cake into a tiered wedding cheesecake :)

    That's odd that they are already booked. Bakers usually take a few weddings a day - maybe there is an influx of weddings on your date. The size of the slice is determined by the people at the reception cutting it up - so I wouldn't worry about that aspect. How far away from commerce are you willing to go? Home Bakery in Rochester is really good and do amazing decorations. I went with Josefs in Grosse Pointe - they had the best tasting cake and Anthony has been super easy to work with.

    My reception is in Livonia at the Italian American Banquet Center. I thought about Sweet and Savory Bake Shop in Oxford, Cakes by Stephanie in Monroe, or Sorella's in Livonia (which is down the street from Italian American Banquet Center). I will have to check out Home Bakery and Josefs! Thanks for the help :)

    Also, check out Elite Sweets in Livonia. Another knottie (Larz) is using them at the IABC - not sure if she has had a good experience with them, but it's another place to look into.
