Guests *sigh*

I got a package today from C&B and just opened it now.  It's a gift from my cousin with a card that reads something to the effect of, "Really sorry, thought I could make it to the wedding, but I can't."  She never turned in her RSVP card and when I asked her last week if she was coming she said yes and that her mom was supposed to mail her card with her entree choice.  Well, my deadline is fast approaching and I hadn't gotten it, so I asked her today over FB what she wanted to eat.  No response as of now.  So was she not planning to actually tell me she couldn't come and let the gift do the talking?

Anyways,  I definitely appreciate a gift and she's sweet for sending it, but what if the gift hadn't come quickly enough?  Then I would have put her in my final count and that would have cost a lot more money than the gift!  I guess I shouldn't be annoyed as it's all fine.  But still!  People don't think sometimes!

I would like to mention that no one RSVP'd with an uninvited guest though.  So props to my guest list for that.

Some people really just don't *get* ettiquette. Glad you found out in advance that she isn't coming. And definitely yay for no uninvited guests...

Update: Last night she facebooked me her meal choice!  I'm so confused.  I just sent her another message telling her I got a gift that said she couldn't come.   Her mother (my aunt) must have sent it.  Weird!  Hopefully I'll have it straightened out soon.

what the heck?! What a weird situation!

Of course it could be worse. I read a thread on the E-Board (no idea what led me there) about a girl who addressed an invite to "Mr & Mrs ___ & family" and the RSVP said "22 will attend" WHAT?! Imagine having to figure that one out. haha
