Hi! 
I just got engaged last friday and am sooo excited! I've been looking at where to start and I'm a bit overwhelmed. I think we have  to wait until January to start planning our October wedding, and it's stressing me out a bit b/c of all the talk on here about everyone being wayyy into their planning already. Anyways, how is everyone here?

    Welcome and Congrats!!! I just got engaged on thanksgiving so I am new too :) This board is so helpful. I am seriously overwhelmed and stressed also! Basically my advice is just research things, figure out what you want and dont want right now. The more you research now the better you will be prepared to make decisions. It does seem like everything takes a long time to plan and you can never be to early i think!!! So you already have a date? What else have you decided already?

    Welcome and congratulations!  Ladies on here are super helpful.  Start with your guest count and a budget and go from there.  Happy planning!

    No set date, and the month is all we've got so far. Have you guys made any decisions yet? Any fun groovy advice to share? lol

    BREATHE, BREATHE, BREATHE!!! I would not wait, honestly October is one of the most popular month, so some stuff would be booked if you waited until January. 

    First things first, have a celebration, we went to a local bar with friends and celebrated with them, it was a blast and it was something simple, we said everyone meet here and we will drink and be happy.

    second: decide on a budget, weddings are expensive and depending on how many people you have an where and when you want it, things add up. 

    third: venue and church (if needed) we saw around 15 venues, so don't think you have to settle the last venue we saw was the one we went with. The church we went with one that lived near. 

    fourth: decide what is next important to you and start booking in that order. We actually booked our photographer and videographer before we had a date set, because for us that was most important. 

    we have been engaged since february and we are still booking vendors so you don't have to go to crazy but we want to have them all booked by january for our november wedding. 

    Good luck and congrats!!! Ask questions and search previous posts because that is how i found most of my vendors, word of mouth!!!

    Congrats on your engagement! It is a special time, so be sure to enjoy it.

    The ladies already mentioned some helpful advice. I also recommend looking at past newbie threads to read the advice and tips in there. I know there was one with some good advice in it fairly recently.

    And don't be afraid to ask for help on here. This is a very friendly board.

    Hi! This is actually my first post on here, I really like reading everyones reviews its been extremely helpful in finding great vendors. I don't want to freak you out but my wedding is going to be October 20, 2012 and I found out there really is a lot booked up already so I wouldn't wait too long to get started. Good luck!

    I am totally addicted to these boards! Talk about a wealth of knowledge! I only wish there was a search function...or is there and I am missing it?

    I would start looking asap. My date isn't until 6/2013 and I'm already visiting venues and looking into catering. I just got engaged on Saturday and have already snagged a photographer and possible a dj/photo booth. Granted, I'm totally OCD.

    Welcome! I'm getting married Oct. 13 2012. We have booked our church, reception, and photographer. I am going to wait until after the first of the year to book anything else, mostly just to wait to have more savings built up. Congratulations! The ladies on this board are super helpful and give great advice that has helped me in the process.
