Size of Rockwood Carriage House?

Hi!

I wanted to check with all you ladies who have had their wedding/been to a wedding at the Rockwood Carriage House about its size.  The website says it seats 225 people, but after visiting it, it just doesn't look that big.  I love the feel to the place--all the stone everywhere--but don't want my guests to be uncomfortable.

I'm mostly concerned about the patio.  We are thinking about having around 180 guests, and that would mean there would be about 10 tables on the patio--but with the barn doors on the two sides, there would be about 4-6 tables (not 100% sure how many tables would fit in the middle of the room) who wouldn't be able to see into the main room.  Has anyone encountered this before?  Or if you were seated in the patio with your view of the dance floor/main room blocked off, would you feel slighted or annoyed?

Also, to any of you who have been to bigger weddings at the Carriage House, do you think the dance floor is big enough for 180 people?  We want everyone up and dancing!

Having seen the place, I'm just having trouble imagining 225 people fitting comfortably.  But if 225 is the max., 180 shouldn't be a problem at all, should it?

I appreciate all of your feedback!!!

  • My best friend is getting married there with about 140 guests.  I saw it set up for 150, and there still seemed to be some extra space - since they do the bar across the hall, it frees up some space.  I don't see how 225 would fit, but I think 180 would be ok.  Are you inviting 180 or expecting 180?

  • We're inviting 180, so I'm sure we'll have some no RSVPs.  I just don't want to offend anyone by sticking them on the patio behind the lovely blue barn doors.  Maybe I'll just put our younger guests out there and they can start the party.  :)

    Thanks for the response!
  • When are you getting married? My wedding is booked there for June 28th and I am figuring on 150 guests. I feel the same way about the barn doors and the patio room so I may move some tables around to make it work.
  • June 28th 2013 that is!
  • I came across this post when googling a very similiar question. I fell in love with this venue when I toured it and we have the venue under contract for next November. However, we want to invite around 190 people. I know people say that you can expect 20% of people to say no but I'm very worried about that volume of people fitting in the room and on the dance floor. We want lots of dancing! How many people ended up coming to your wedding and did it feel cramped? How about the dance floor?

    Thank you!!!
